I did some research and I guess FBL setup is much more challenging compared to the flybar....but I think I am going to stick to flybar for now because its the cheapest option....and after I learn some basic manoeuvre I will get a bigger fbl heli....

and I never managed to keep my heli in one piece for more than 2 or 3 days :P..so I guess best option for now will be to stick to a flybar one....hope I am making the right decision....

    regards.

the options are now limited as the in thing is fbl
we had carb smarts, 140* eccpm etc that were a passing phase
but i think fbl will be around for a while

until the freaks turn out to be correct and everyone refits flybars back to their helis

remember the freaks at save the flybar foundation will take the p when they spot you

Can I suggest a 300x or 450x im sure iv seen the 300 for sale at around £200. I have one and love it. I take it everywhere and is cheap to fix. You cant use the quark but all the other electronics will fit so can be kept as spares. And they have a mid to top end fbl unit you can use on nearly any bigger heli. It will also bind straight to the dx6i with biginner and 3d setups out of the manual. This means that if yiu are not yet ready to set up your own fbl heli yiu can still have a great solid platform to learn on.

Only the 3GX needs a 7-channel or more transmitter for it's built-in receiver - and even that can use a 6-channel if configured via an external receiver.

All other flybarless units are absolutely fine with a 6-channel TX.

At the risk of being called a Blade fanboi The 450X will work absolutely fine with your DX6i. It comes with a very good FBL unit (AR7200BX), Parts are very cheap (come mostly in packs of two) and it flies beautifully. And to make it even more sweet - Kyle (RC-Hero.co.uk) is doing a stonkingly good price on the BNF version at the moment (£274) ... That price comes with a LIPO too, making the heli about £254!!

I need an align, because the person who will set it up for me strongly recommended me to get an align...so it needs to be a align no questions asked

The 450X Bind n Fly doesn't need any setting up ... You put in the transmitter settings from the manual, charge the LIPOs, and go fly.

If you're going for an Align, I would stick to the kit versions - their pre-build Bind To Fly (BTF) helis aren't that great in my experience. I had a BTF Trex250 DFC - I took it back and got my money back. Their kits though only come with the 3GX which as you've found out, doesn't play nicely with 6-channel transmitters directly. You could try to sell the 3GX and put something else in - but there always seems to be quite a few people trying to offload 3GX's, so 2nd hand value isn't great (£50 ish).

Not sure if you want to do a built yet? If not, you could go for a second hand Align, but that comes with its own challenges.

For the stage you're at - the 450x really would be a perfect partner for your DX6i.

how about an Align clone of arguably equal quality for a fraction of the cost :

                Tarot 450 Pro Kit RC Helicopter Barebone Trex 450 Clone [61253] - $96.00 : ooModel.com

i've had mine years with hundreds of flights and 15 crashes....still going strong with a FB attached.

i can also recommend this on line shop as i've bought from them many times with no issues at all.
