If it's only a slight movement it may be ok. I've had one in a 450 for some time and it flies ok.

Like peeps have said, it's often easier to hear it rather than see it.

Mate the sound thing i guess will work for me since i am able to hear some different rolling sound, its just that i dont have a good shaft on me so not really sure what the perfect rolling sound is but i can surely hear some different sounds..but am working on it looks like its gonna take a bit of time..

        cheers.

Geez explaining a sound is not easy. hope it makes sense lol

the standard stock shaft which is major suspect of being bent is making an inconsistent noise..and needs pushing i am 90% sure its bent

the other 2 main shafts are brand new......but i hammered them yesterday... both of them has similar movement.....more constant rolling noise than the stock one and needs slight pushing

So now i just have to do it 1000 times more to feel the sound and movement in order to come to a conclusion.

          regards.

Be careful you don't mistake the sound that the bolt holes in the shaft make as they pass over the glass for a bent shaft.

Nah nah mate sorry but sounds complex....not familiar with v bar and dial test stuff....i am going to try the flat surface rolling sound technique for now.

but the simple way is to roll it on a sheet of glass (or known flat surface)
when rolling watch the shaft if the one end or middle lifts then its bent
if rolling on a dark surface watch to see if any light appears under the shaft when rolling it, if it does its bent

Finger tips are very sensitive ..so even better to feel it as it rolls... HOWEVER some of the 450 size shafts get a bit flattened where the jesus holes are and may clatter there. Can avoid that by rolling on a narrow sheet so the holes aren;t involved.

I generally use a tile or the wife's ceramic hob top

It's a bit like rolling a die compared to a ball bearing.

There was a guy on desert isand discs (years ago) who was asked what he would like as his luxury item "Two hookers and an eight-ball" apparently wasn't BBC stuff..

None of them is and the smaller the tougher IMHO.
