  • Beginner upgrade

    Hi
last year I was bought a fantastic little rc helicopter - it has S107 on it.
It was only a £20 one but Its really got me into the whole rc helicopter thing.
I would now really like to upgrade to the next stage of heli and after doing some research have seen one called a Blade Nano CP x RTF mode 2 for £129.99
Could anyone tell me if this is the next step and if this is a good price.

    Many thanks

    Laurie

I've got a nano cpx and its also my first Collective pitch heli. It's wayyyy more difficult haha but rewarding before I made the big jump I brought a cheap fixed pitch heli (WL Toys V911) just to get used to more channels

Oh and for price that's good !! Many folks say bigger is better though so take that into consideration too. Ill be moving up to a Blade 550 next, now my living room has taken a beating 😆

Hi. Kings lynn models are selling these for£105.

I would suggest you read the info on rchelicopterfun.com as it gives good advice on progression and which heli to buy. I found it very helpful when I first started.

In my opinion the best learning aid I bought was a trex 500 but it depends if you have someone experienced to help set it up, somewhere to fly it and the extra money to spend on a 7 channel radio. (I know you only need 6 channels for this model but if you decide to get a nitro heli in the future you'll be glad you invested now rather than having to upgrade in the future). The 500 is just more stable and more visible than any micro machine.

        Hope this helps

An don't forget the crash costs of a bigger Heli though. And somewhere to fly it.

Only thing putting me off rushing into a large helicopter are the costs !

Telling the GF I need to replace parts that cost £££ really isn't worth the ear ache haha

So do you think it would be best to buy a V911 first?
If I do would I be able to use the transmitter for the Blade Nano?

No it comes with its own. It's not a bind and fly. I found it helped with getting orientation skills and throttle skills. It's cheap and strong as hell too !!

Well you can bind a turnigy Tx to it but you'll have a spektrum.

It's a good little heli well worth the money !

Not for a beginner coming from a coax it isn't!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blade MSRx is what you want. You will have a lot of work to do with that till you get anywhere near a cp heli.

Although if people really are going to suggest this fella buy a big cp helicopter then i really am in the wrong place.

You cant run before you can walk. MSRx is perfect for you. Sure get a nano if you want. But i think you will really struggle with it

I was referring to an upgrade from a nano, not a coax lol Assuming he wants to fly outside the smaller 300x is a bit twitchy in wind.

Sorry what does the term coax mean?
Are there any magazines that teach the basics and terminology?

                          Co-ax = co-axial

It refers to a Heli that has two main rotor sets one on top of the other, this makes it extremely stable but also very very easy to fly.

                            Ah got you.
Yes it's very easy to fly so I'd like something to challenge me BUT fun.

                              Mcpx, nano, or 130x

If you want a proper Heli a 450 will be good but crashes and repairs can be hard work at first.
