I'm just thinking out loud here. At the moment I am in Gran Canaria again. I've been coming over to GC and Tenerife for a few years as a little escape from the dark wet UK winters.
What I wish existed is a single website with all the info someone in the UK would need about places in Spain you can go for a holiday and fly helis as well. The problem is that the information out there is sketchy, incomplete, outdated, often only in Spanish. Some clubs have websites but no contact info or no one responds etc. etc. It just seems there's a huge info gap for anyone wanting to escape the UK winter and do some flying. (The one exception being the RC Hotel in Corfu).
Here in the Canary islands you can get 20 degree highs even in the dead of winter. Almost every day will have some flyable time. (or massively better chances than back at home this time of year). I'm sure there are spots on the mainland that have flyable weather as well.
So what I'm wondering is this: If I setup a dedicated website with a forum to collate all the current info on various places on the mainland and the islands, would anyone use it? Or would it be a ghost town? The Spain forum here is a ghost town so that's not encouraging but maybe it's just not visible enough? If I made a dedicated site it would share info with fixed-wing flyers as well so that would be one difference.
A few weeks ago I saw a post in the BMFA from someone wanting info on plank flying in Gran Canaria and I responded with the links I had from previous trips, but it's very clear that info is lacking in many ways.
So I guess the point of this post is to see if the situation is one where just no one else has the desire to do a little travelling and be able to fly as well or if it's a matter of the lack of easy to find info that stops some folks from persuing it any further?
