  • BeastX/Futaba S-Bus/Nitro Gov/Switchglow pro set up?

    I have a head ache!!

OK, as above, I have a BeastX going onto my 700LE FBL conversion. It is being connected to a Futaba S-Bus Rx, along with an Align gov (it worked well enough for me in FB setup) and a switchglow.

How do I set it all up please? I have done all the BeastX settings, and also set the end points on the throttle, but do I have to assign a channel in a spare Rx channel for the gov to switch it on/off? Also, the switchglow, how does that get assigned to a channel?

Finally, I am using a LiFe pack connected via a XT60 to 2 servo plugs. 1 into the Beast, and 1 into a spare Rx channel (but looks like I will run out of sockets, so may connect it to the gov signal so the power hits the power bus in the Rx, with the signal wire just to the gov).

This is being flown with a 12FG, but basically the same as an 8FG.

    Thankyou guys.

    Which receiver?

You plug the Switch Glo into channel 1 on the S-Bus receiver and re-assign the Switch Glo to channel 1 on your tranny. Then make sure your functions (aileron, elevator, pitch, throttle etc...) are re-assigned from channel 2 upwards on your tranny. Then "teach" your BeastX the functions.

My mate did this on his Velocity 90 and it worked fine.

Hehe this is why I'm buying your 8FG Rob, as the 10C will not allow me to do this.

So, where does my gov switch wire (yellow) go?

Can it not go in channel 2 of the receiver and re-assign the other functions from channel 3 upwards?

I was under the understanding Futaba group controls together, so 1-4 5-8 etc.

Does this not mean that the cyclics have to be together ? ( IE 1-4)

Yup you want cyclic servos in the same group, so their data isn't separated between packets.

The aim of channel grouping was to help ensure that all cyclic controls got their updates in the same cycle when the radio was responsible for eCCPM mixing.

With the BeastX you have handed over the mixing control so the tx isn't doing that any more so I'd have thought the grouping was less vital.

You can still free up two channels at the bottom of the sequence and keep the cyclic controls together if you want as long as the BeastX can use SBus channels over 7 which is something I don't know ...

Yeah that's true Mark, forgot about that. Personally, for peace of mind, I'd still like to have the 3 cyclic channels sent at the same time, but I challenge ANY human to notice the difference lol

I'm almost sure it does as this was the worry my mate had on his V90.
