  • 3gx instalation

i had a bit of excess movement on my 3gx with the sticky pad so i ran a small amount of show goo down both edges to stop any play and now it is really rigid, i have not flown it yet but would this be a problem being solid. i have read that some people strap it down.

    thanks

    Hello mate.

I dont see it being a major problem, especially on electric models where vibrations are at a minimum. IC machines would suffer being rigidly mounted though.
The only thing you might have to alter is the gyro gains, as with it being more rigidly mounted movement feedback into the unit will be higher.

Are you trying V2 yet? I've seen it running very well up the club at the weekend, both on Duncans OS105 equipped 700N and another flying buddys Trex 500.

to be honest i have 3 3gx v2.0 , 2 on 600n and 1 on my 700n. o flew the 600 and 700 this weekend and there were fantastic, but the last flight of the 600 i felt the tail go abit so i landed it and noticed the stick pad was not sticking very well. it is really solid now but have not flown it, i was just a bit worried if it would be to solid being on a nitro heli.

        Hey.

On nitro models I am more inclined to have a firm, yet softer mounting pad to absorb some of the engine vibrations. On my old 700N I liked the Spartan mounting system, thick pad - metal plate - thin pad, but this was using a 3G which was smaller and fitting the currently available metal plates.

Probably the best thing is to try the model and see how well it performs with the more solid mounting.
