I won't be using more than 8 degrees yet. I think anything higher would be for 3D, and too much for me at the moment, but if you're normally using more than 8 degrees, I'd say you should set it to whatever you normally use, although I'm not 100% certain.

Will be waiting to see how others find this update as like some have already said, they've only just got their machines flying nicely- I'am still using 1.1 as at the moment,,its sweet and handles nicely,,,,

Wonder why they changed the parameters for 8 degrees in DIR as that seems a lot of movement,,, the BeastX on the Atom 500 only requires 6 degrees and its mental !!

            Hey.

I've not looked at the software yet, will do later to be nosey. However it does sound like they are following Vbar and beast in that the unit now needs to know an actual cyclic pitch figure for a given travel percentage, which hints at being in mor control maybe.

Im sad I dont have a 3GX to try this firmware now, but I'll try to have a go with a model atleast for now.

Odd what it says about the satellite stuff. 30cm is a long distance apart.

I believe you have to set the cyclic at 8 degrees and all adjustments for speed have to be done through the software. ie you don't use the D/R or swashmix to increase or decrease the flip/ roll rate. Either you use the computer software parameter or the new menus within the 3GX unit itself (button pushing). Just finished my setup so hopefully a test flight or two on the weekend.

Another note is that you have to have the pitch and aileron servos connected in a particular orientation. Aileron servo to the right and Pitch servo to the left looking from the tail of the heli. I know on FB helis this isn't an issue but I always built my helis with Aileron left and Pitch right be they FB or FBL.

You can try it on my 500, would love a correctly setup heli by the expert.

Apparently a lot of testing, over 4 months, has gone into it.

Sounds good, I'm going to have to build up another model to try it on at some stage I think.

                        Hey.

Just rembering back to what I read on the Align site, are they not refering to the distance between transmitter and satellites during power up?
Reading it again now it could be taken either way.

LOL, as soon as work picks up I may just take this advice

I've just ordered some Opti packs for my 700E and the other bits I need to pop a DFC head on my 550E, so taking it easy on what more I spend just yet.

                            Hi,
Just downloaded the software and had a look through it. A lot different than 1.2. Not sure whether to brave it and put it on my 3GX or not.
Anyhow contained within the software are the instructions for doing the settings within the unit while you are out and without a laptop. I have converted them to PDF and attached them to this post. So chuck them on your phone or print them out for reference. Hope it helps.

                            Cheers, Rich

Wow thanks three6ty. Im trying to do my firmware upgrade now, somethings not right though.

From what I see so far you set the pitch to 8 degrees using swash mix and leave it there. The 3gx then decides how much more/less pitch you can have depending on how you set it up.

Right now though ive clicked the "update" button on the 3gx V2 app and selected the 3gx2.0_update.exe file and its just sat there doing nothing.... I cant click any buttons and i dont know whats going on. I dont want to cancel it incase i brick my 3gx!

OK, there i was about to get all cocky and update mine, right up until I read Rich's post with the PDF attached (nice for one doing that though Rich)

Now I think will have to have a good look through the software first.

If only I didn't have something so hard and expensive to repair if it goes in, thanks JR!! Still she will have to get the update treatment and just get used to it I suppose!

Experimentation starts Saturday, will post results, good or bad!

                                Cheers
