    Sorry I mean 3Gx...

    Hi

Can someone please give me the correct connecting up sequence for the USB dongle for getting the PC software to recognise the 3Gx unit?

Seem to be getting a message in the software saying something like 'connection failed'.

Are there any online instructions anywhere?

    Thanks

You are powering up the 3GX unit aren't you? It has to be powered up or it won't work.

OK sorted and loaded on V1.2 firmware.
I'll swap it over into the 700E to replace the 3G unit on there soon and try it out.

              Hi,

Currently my 3GX device is running with v1.1 and I went through the whole set up procedure.
The device also connects successfully to the 3GX configuration software and I can get and set configuration values.

I've been trying to upgrade the 3GX to the latest firmware v2.0.

The process always ends with a "Failed to write" error message a few seconds after pressing the Update button.

When opening the Update Firmware dialogue it says "Detected the USB device".

After pressing the Update button it says "Connection..." and shortly after it says "Loading...".
At the same time the STATUS and GOV LED switch off (is this expected?). After a few seconds it says "Failed to write" with the progress bar still at 0%.

I tried also upgrading to v1.2 on different MS Windows versions (Windows7,Windows XP) all with the same result.

Does someone know what possible could be wrong?

Thank you very much for any help,
              Andre

I didn't manage to fix the problem and am still on v1.1 and flying with it (or trying).
Right now I'm trying to find the right combination of parameters like w or w/o gov, head speed, gyro gain, and so on to get the wagging tail steady.

One thing which crossed my mind is that I'm using a separate CC BEC running at the default setting of 5.1V which might drop below the minimum of what the 3GX device can handle when I'm trying to upgrade, because as I explained the 3GX device seems to switch off as soon as I start the upgrade process.

What is your configuration, what voltage is your internal or external BEC running on?

                    Andre

                      Hey.

If you are powering Align servos from your 3GX then in order for them to meet the recommened speed and torque spec's you need to set the CC BEC PRO to 6 volts output.

With the 3GX connection problem, most of this could probably be linked to driver issues. Did the PC register the dongle being plugged in and locate drivers to suit?

Another problem I have read is to make sure your Windows Media Player is up to date, as this has given problems, but off the top of my head I cannot remember the specific problem given.

Are you using a usb extension lead, I've have read on some forum people using wrong usb lead.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

My 3gx device is powered by external BEC at 5v.
Maybe that you say is possible, for dropping voltage with all servos connected.
The next days I'll disconnect the servos and check.

                          Thanks

Ok. I don“t know about it, I'll check for servos and receiver voltages to setting the power to 6v.
