To be honest it's maybe still not as stable in the hover as it was on v4 software, but it's 'ok'. For sure it's a lot better since I did the re-set because my 700 was almost unflyable first time round on v5.0. Interesting, mine is "ok" most of the time and flyable but having gain at max and being unpredictable tells me something is not right with it, so playing it safe for now.

Nice of you to offer Ian but bad news was at the club this eve & took off with 600e doing figure 8 flight when suddenly she dropped like a brick, not sure what's caused it can't bring meself to look so see how i feel tomorrow night.Originally posted by coolice View PostHey Jim.

Ah good, just so people know on Jims machine I spotted that the elevator servo arm control ball was in a different position to the two front aileron servos. Also the control ball on the elevator A arm on his 600EFL was in the outer position for a fly barred setup. It may help others with the same machine.
I'd like to have a go setting up this model mate, how about next time you're at the field and got the time we run through it? Doesn't take me long with the 3GX and I'd like to see if there is a remedy if that's ok with you?

I've done my 500 now with v5 & getting the same as the 600 with this swash tilting, only if i zero the (collective pitch elev. precompensation) will i get a level swash between full neg to collective.Today's outlook is fine for flying.- Spektrum DX18 gen2, Phoenix Sims, Align MR25XP.

I've sensed the drift you mention and it is brief and it does go. I just don't hover too much ;-) I have not seen any untoward behaviour though, no pitching or tail loosing authority or any of the nasty stuff just a little bit drifty which can be flown through - a bit like the way a fly barred model is affected by wind, annoying but perfectly fly able.

Progress report so far,
Perhaps I've had some beginners luck but my 3GX experience so far hasn't been too bad.
Only issues I've had have been the tail blowing and one instance of a random twitch, The tail blowing might be more to do with the bird itself, I've read a few reports of this behaviour with the 500 size going back a while. Same issue can affect the 600 and as a precaution I installed longer tail blades and fin and have not had an issue with it. I wonder if longer tails might help with the 500?
The twitch was a bit of a worry, it was just idling down from IU1 to normal mode about 3 feet from the floor when it happened. It was as if it lost power for a fraction of a second before resuming instantly. Odd, and again might have nothing to do with the 3GX.
Seem to have made a little headway with the tail blowing by upping the CP torque precompensation and with the quivering by lowering the rudder locking gain.
The blowing only happened once so I won't know for a bit if that's sorted and the quivering is still there with the rudder locking gain as low as it will go but it's not too bad now.
Cyclic feel is quite nice but faster ticktocks feel like they need quite a bit of stick input.
Overall I'd be quite happy with it as long as I feel it's not going to randomly fail (twitch) or blow out on me.

Really sorry to hear about your crash fella. Hope the damage is not too extensive. Consolation I suppose is that at least Align parts are more than reasonable cost for their excellent (now) quality. I do hope (selfishly) that the V5 update was not to blame. I don't envy you the task of a rebuild though
