  • Optifuel 12% fuel

    Hi all,

Does anyone use this? I think most prefer the 20% Slv but as I'm learning to fly I'm not sure if I need that much nitro content?

Currently using a Rappy 50 with TT53 Redline.

    Any feedback would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

it will work just fine , however a higher nitro content (up to a point) does no harm , better idling and starting are a plus point.
However at the hovering around stage all will be well with either nitro content .

Thanks Rachel. Such a mine field trying to find a decent fuel that works well. Guess it's a case of trial and error as others have mentioned. Tempted to give the 20% Slv a try though.

its a great fuel , just run your motor dry at idle at the end of your last flight , just hold the head tight and close off the fuel line until it stops , it will run fast for a second as it goes lean , do not run it out in flight !

Then refill and drain your tank, to remove exhaust gasses from tank , and turn the engine to top dead centre with the starter wand.

Thants a good way to store your motor unless you fly every few days .
        hope this helps .

I used it for a while when I first got my 600 nitro for the same reason... Didn't need the power while learning and its cheaper. It's totally fine. No issue starting or wit the idle whatsoever. The only problem I can see is your mates make may take the **** for being a cheap skate. You will find the need to swap to 20 after a while though

          trex 600 nitro le (beastx)

          dx8.....

its not my dog by the way.

            Optifuel 12% fuel

I use same fuel in my entire fleet of helis. Still very much a learner, and have only good things to say about the fuel. Previously using MT Bekra, and this optifuel is better - engines start easier too
Will eventually switch to 20% - but not yet.

I sell plenty of opti 12% to heli guys, problem is I don't see them as regularly as the 20% guys. The 12% are mostly sport flyers who prefer the better running cost.

Thanks all for the comments, very much appreciated. Glad to hear it's fine for heli's and I also noted how cheap it was compared to the 20%. I wasn't sure if the low nitro content was more suited to the 30 class engines but it sounds fine for 50's =]

15% Rotor Rage helicopter fuel, probably the best fuel you can buy. All our engines running on that are running 100% better, can't recommend it enough. Using it on 55's, 91's, 105's and the 120's.
