It's not all over for nitro just yet........

Just been out with my 700 flying Optifuel 30ultraULV. I have to say this fuel is outstanding. I know there is a big lean towards electric lately and with the recent release of the excellent Optipower packs I can see why. However, the ULV blend just gives so much power it's simply stunning. Takes a tank or two to get it tuned but once on the sweet spot the grin factor is amazing. I've just fallen in love with nitro all over again. I'll be using this fuel at champs for sure.

The problem is Andy is not making 30%ULV for public use it's only for sponsored pilots, which is a shame as it is a great fuel that can give electric a run for there money.

Nice to see a nitro thread Pedro, my 700N is still with me and now FBL, and will be running for a long time yet, though i do have to admit i am loving the elecs at the moment, i aint giving up my nitro

I think it's all down to price, special Klotz oil's are expensive to produce

The point of this thread was to highlight that nitro is still a viable and exciting alternative to electric and that Optifuel are still developing products to get the most out of our nitro engines. I'm sure with enough demand this fuel will be released on general sale.

I was joking Pete, but seriously if there is that sort of power to be had from nitro then bring it on as far as I'm concerned. If the demand for it is there and the cost isn't so prohibitive then I can't see it not selling.

All down to costs i would guess Pete,normal 30% is dear enough for me and many non sponsored pilots and no matter what power we get £30 per gallon with times as hard as they are is right on the limit imo.
