have run both 30slv and MT30 and there is no noticable difference in flight performance as i can tell.
I also think you will find Andy from optifuel never claimed SLV 30 was more powerfull, just that the throttle recovery was faster, and i agree that is noticable compared to the standard 30, but i still think magnum was the most powerfull fuel i have ever used, but that used to destroy bearings regardless how carefull you were.
I would say performance wise MT30 and SLV30 is on par performance wise, as well as i expect it is with the others too i.e. rapticon, the only thing i like about MT is it seems to cope with air temp changes better than any other i have tried needing less needle tweeks
As for it being the fasionable fuel of the moment, well yes it is, is that a bad thing? well shows the company has a great marketing sence, and you cannot argue that Optifuel has supported the hobby 100%.
Myself, yes i am an Model technics pilot, so there is no point in me coming on here saying how great it is, for me it is the best i have used, but thats my opinion, not changed an engine bearing for a year now, but then i can't say i did using opti either.
If there was only one big fuel supplier it would be boring, but as for me i am sticking with Model technics, not only because i am sponsored by them but because i want to support them as they have shown faith and supported me

Your either very unlucky or doing something wrong. I ran two YS91SR's all of last year for practice and comps and didn't change a single bearing. All the fuels available these days work fine. The big difference is how much Andy gives back to the hobby by sponsoring events and many of the UK's pilots.

Just for info I chose to use Optifuel before Andy kindly supported me.

        Cheers

I have been running optifuel 20 for the last l year in my 600 with a 50 hyper and never changed a bearing yet and I have easily burned 10 gallons on it. Many of the pilots in our club are the same!

I think Magnum has a slight pink tint to it

But seriously, I see no point in these debates - as they always turn out the same.

I use opti fuel 30 and 20 I have just managed to get a box of opti 20 slv for a super price, I must admit I bought a box of magnum 30 for £20 so im burning that off first. I cant wait to try the slv its not the extra power thats needed but the faster throttle recovery which will help me and my crappy collective management.

As to the fuel killing bearings why does no one ever mention engine tuning. From what I know about tuning its the biggest killer of bearings, liners and rings.

Both my heli's haven,t been even started since last year(around september)apart from a squirt of after run oil ive done nothing with them. they have been stored in my shed, upright(nose up) after cycling the batteries and checking them over + rebinding the rx's,I took them to the field today fueled them up and they both started and ran perfectly and hovered out a tank full each!

Optifuel isnt that bad i think

You should be going richer in theory.

I would go back to factory and start again, wont take a tank or two.
