Cant grumble can we
... just like car oils.. loads of grades and protection.. and its great that Optifuel are copying that and offering better products for us, instead of just sticking with something that works!.. The best thing is theres not hardly any price difference unlike the car market!
I've got to burn what I have and get some SLV in

really why do people feel the need to blow the brains out of there engine with 30% its not needed unless you are flying top end 3d and in comps
........ colletive control
for most a 15% will do fine unless you realy want to bang it out then 20%
to bang 30% into alot of engines you really are asking for trubleLast edited by smokingtommy; 24-04-2011, 11:45 PM.

flown opti 30 and slv, there is no real diff in power but the throttle recovery is alot faster that what makes it seem more powerfull.
No different than model technics 30% and i just love the smell, i am hookedJames

Ok I wouldn't say a fasionable fuel , just one with a huge back up made by a modeler who cares a lot about the sport and is at all the flyins not particuallay to just sell fuel but to learn and make a better product.
Andy , (optifuel) is a really helpfull guy.
As for Optirust, I stoped an OS55 , as in just turned it off on the trim , stood it for 3 months , striped it to check , and ,..... NO rust.
I have changed bearings but I run OS 55 & 91's so I think bearings are just a service part, but never after 1 gallon at least 6 probabbly more.
The be all and end all of any fuel thread is its like your car you drive , personal choice.
As for needing 30% again choice, I flew optifuel 20% SLV and had to go back to nornal 20% and wow, it was like flying a different heli, 30% definatly helps with my confidence / poor pitch managment :-)
Most heli pilots will only need 20% SLV its a wonderfull fuel.
Just my oppinion

I've been using Optifuel 30 & 30 SLV and now running 20% SLV for over a year now in both the Srimok and 600 both using OS motors and I've not changed a bearing in either motor, last month when I fitted the futaba CGY to the Srimok I checked the bearing, it was a light brown in Colour and came off with a cotton bud, 100% No rust at all.Originally posted by gashead View PostMore like a fasionable fuel imo, rather not change my bearings on a weekly basis, just gonna stick to model tech for now, i have tried opti rust and my ys bearing had to be changed after only 1 gallon.
The Srimok has now 48 flights and the 600 T Rex 71 flights,
I only use Optifuel and have no reason to change.
At the end of the days flying I sworn off the motor with the kill switch on the tx and clamp the pipe to the carb, then plug the exhaust take the model home then remove the exhaust plug and replace it, nothing more.
Some times the tank is empty some times has something in, I fill up on the next flying day.

Has anyone actually tested fuels on two identical machines?
Me and Mark both replaced our bearings at the same time, he uses MT, I use Opti 20. He has put a bit more fuel through his but he runs an OS ( I run YS). His engine was rebuilt, mine was new at the time.
Not as scientific as I would have liked hence the question, but will give a rough idea.
