  • What Fuel?

I had a look on the forum about different fuel types as I'm starting to look at Nitro as an option.

I thought I'd ask via a poll to see what the great and the good are using atm.

I'd like to know what most people are using, I know there are mixture versions available for each (15%, 20% and 30%) but right now I'd just like to see what is the most "popular" and if you want to add some comments - feel free!!

    Cheers,
    Simon

On my YS50st I run Rapicon 20% as I buy online due to not very good LHS. found it to be well priced and engine runs very sweet with it.

Optifuel seems to be one of the more popular fuels these days, likewise lots seem to be using MT Coptamix and Rapicon supplied by EvoRC.

As for nitro content, it depends on how you fly. If you are a sport flyer, then in most cases 20% should be good. If you are 3D or doing more aggressive moves, then the 30% certainly gives more kick. It also comes down to price. Quite a difference in cost between 20 and 30.

Might be worth getting a bottle of each and see how you get on with it then make your own choice.

I am sure many others will pipe up with other recommendations

            Opti 30% here.
I chose opti because in the past come summer time when everyone is out flying it used to sometimes be a problem to get hold of the more popular US based fuels.
I can get opti from my almost local hobby shop or get it delivered from Fast lads.

Just use what you fancy There's no great difference between any of the heli specific mixes.
I use Rapicon myself as it's easily available via Evo rc, and just about the cheapest £/litre of 'em all.

after all the trouble I've had with 30 %, I'm using 20 % now and everything works perfectly, runs cooler and gives longer flight time at a marginal decrease in power on a .90.
Unless you need the power, a lower percentage would probably work just as well.

                            Hi Chaps,

Blimey - I wanted to post a "poll" with the thread, but got a phone call in the middle of it and now I find out that a poll has to be posted within 5 mins of posting the thread - bugger!

Hope you dont mind but I will re post but this time with the poll attached. So I will close this thread and start a new one.

                            Cheers,
                            Simon
