Ron, i am not suggesting he 'Clone' the fuel and i never said or implied that he should. What i did say was 'Maybe' obtain some rapicon for him to test. As this fuel has the properties that we 'The Customer' want. So something is missing from Optifuel, is it the Oil Package? Any Anti-Corrosion Additive? I don't know..

    FROM RAPICON WEBSITE
All Helicopter Fuels feature a 22% synthetic oil mix 23% for 30%) and lean burn technology; this ensures that oils, lubricants and additives are optimally burned during the combustion stage, leading to less residue and cleaner running.

Some of the cheaper fuels are known to use lower grade methanol etc. I don't see Optifuel coming out with a blend that they believe is inferior and regardless of personal opinion it is Opti's policy to ensure the best product possible is supplied. Even now in a decreasing market they are still researching to produce even better fuels,so to suggest they look at rapicon is frankly an insult!

Not wanting to fuel an argument but the one thing people complain about or have concerns about is the amount of rust that ends up in the engine, particularly with Optifuel. Regardless of the reason why, I wouldn't understand the complexities in any case that is a fact. I am sure Andy/Opti know as much about fuel production as any other company but the fuel that doesn't do this to your rear bearings is Rapicon. This I have experiecend first hand and if required can take images of my 105 after 5 tanks of Optifuel showing rust, I can also refer to images of my 55 and TT53 without rust using nothing but rapicon after many gallons.

I think what Dave was suggesting was that maybe Opti should look at addressing our concerns by investigating why one fuel rusts and another doesn't regardless of shutdown/after run/storage methods. I don't think Dave set out to insult anyone, maybe just highlight things.

That's also been my experience. I use Rapicon all the time and never have a spot of rust. Opti, on the other hand, is the reason I moved to Rapicon.

so to suggest they look at rapicon is frankly an insult!
Nonsense. It's not meant as an insult and would be good business practice to study your rival and emulate their best bits.

If rapicon has 22% oil does this mean you have less fuel too burn in each tank compared too opti which has 18%..do you run your engines leaner due too have a higher oil content...

When my rapi ran out and I switched to opti I didn't notice any needle change beyond the 1-2 clicks might make as the weather and temp changes. I'm sure there'd be a highly technical answer 'cos their viscosities are different so they will flow through the carb differently and presumably a tiny percentage of oil gets burned too..?

I think the most expensive ingredient in the fuel is the oil pack...
