15% Rotor Rage, awesome fuel. We run 91's, 105's and our 120's and all the engines have been running perfectly. :-)

Ive used rapicon 30% for years now cant fault it, had a lot of bearings go on opti just seemed alot harsher generally, if you cant get 20% why not get 30 and some 15 and mix it? Get what you want then
                cheers Lee

I use what the engine is designed for! I have a number of engines (Super-Tigres, GSM, etc) that won't run properly if they get even a whiff of nitro - and they are not lacking in power compared to similarly specced engines. For the OSs and Irvines I use 16%. Never found the need for any more.

Nitro follows a law of diminishing returns - as you add more and more, the effect becomes less and less. There is absolutely no point in running 30% unless you are in a "hot and high" climate (say Table Mountain in South Africa). All that will happen is that the engine will deteriorate quicker UNLESS you religiously drain and oil it after use. For the UK climate and altitude, 20% is more than enough. Anything more is a simple waste of money.

                    (Let the flame war begin!)

P.S. Remember when you are talking percentages, percentage of WHAT? Most fuel manufacturers measure fuel by VOLUME - its cheap and easy, and its how engine manufacturers usually specify. However, I understand Opti do it by WEIGHT, which is the correct *chemical* way of doing it, but it means that their figures do not correspond to other suppliers - or even to the engine manufacturers figures!

pete a very well known 3d pilot told me in his shop that 30% was a waste of time in an os50 hyper as it didn't perform any better than 20% in it

i run higher nitro in my 90 motors as i had tuning issues with low nitro in them

Im using 20% opti fuel, it works good although it rusts the bearings quick. Ive found rapicon 20% to be very good and keeps the engine internals rust free, rapicon 30% jus adds more power over the 20% might have to switch back to rapicon soon

I'm amazed that more people haven't got onto Rotor Rage, apart from all our engines running perfectly now they're lasting so much longer as well. Was looking at my piston in the 120 the other week and it is like new and its had countless gallons through it now. Various running issues with a couple of engines on other fuels have now also all gone now as well since swapping to RR, all this on just 15% as well.
Fantastic quality fuel, bit dearer but is worth every penny.

Getting the right nitro mix for best performance I look for can be a little tricky for me. Anyway, thank you for sharing your ideas and recommendations. Here's also a good guide on nitro fuel RC Nitro Fuel Car Guide | Remote Control Cars Fuel Mixture.
