  • os55/ thunder tiger redline pipe

    so heres the specs

ely q comp xe running a os55 and a outrage 55 pipe, also no gov at all, power wise, was very good, had it tuned, gave me loads of power, i could do very fast ali tic toks, on the spot, not troubles at all, although, i could bog it if i really wanted to, power climbs also very very good, like a rocket.......

untill the baffles came loose in a gallon

so, threw the help of my mate chris (Wazzo on here), i borrowed his thunder tiger redline pipe, richen the needles up 5 clicks on each needle, and go out for a tuning session, well........ my god the power is emmense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

never actually touched the needles, left them the 5turns richer, the things is on fire, power, power, power, power, climbs have now turn from rocket fast to missle fast, it can take anything i throw at it with ease, and for some reason, not sure what it is but my fuel last forever!!!!!

all in all, very happy, will be testing the ely q pipe soon aswell, but its gonna be tought to beat this

all in all, high recommend this pipe if u have a 55, even if it is abit pricey

Andy from optifuel was telling me it's the best pipe they've tried for the 55. I bought one and stuck it on a crappy Rossi 57 and the thing is now awesome and holds it's tune.

I have the same combo (55 + redline pipe) but can't seem to get it tuned right.

May I ask what fuel you're using and then how your low, mid and high needles are set?

        Thanks.

+1 for this combo. I'm in the breaking phase at the mo so am interested in the settings people are ending up with.

So far signs are good, although I seem to be very rich on the low end, stalling quite alot as I open the throttle

it looks awesome against the black and red of the ely q canopy needles setting im not quite sure, but agreed with debrooker, u got to be gentle of the spool up coz it abit of a pig to get going, think my idle needle is more or less centred, maybe a tad on the richer side, probs less than a 8th of a turn, think my mid and max needles are about1.5/1.75 out??? of at least around that mark

and the threads wasnt good, it was stripped but i just put longer bolts through it and some nuts, no biggy really

Well I'm not surprised that a big difference can be had with the right pipe. I have always felt that most of these heli exhausts are just not designed properly.

What is happening when the pipe is tuned properly is the engine is able to suck back in more fuel that got slung out through the exhaust unburned, so the right tuning of the pipe will give you more punch out of the same mount of fuel (obviously with some fine tuning of the mixture).

I'll just add that I use longer M3 bolts with aeronuts

That does seem quite rich, what nitro and fuel brand are you using?

Ignore previous post, quoted the wrong text :-(

What fuel type and nitro content are you running?

im running 30% rapicon and agreed, sounds very rich, but the flight times are awesome, havent changed my thottle curves, exactly the same as when i had the outrage pipe on it, just changed needles setting, theory is it shld b less on the flight time but somehow i get longer, no complaints from here
