  • How to tell of an engine is well used or not run in?

    Hello guys,

    I finally bought a 700n / os105hzr to scratch a nitro heli itch.

This heli comes from a guy that had died and looks very very new. The owners wife thought it had never flown but I can see there is fuel residue in the tank.

Is there a way of telling if it is ran in?

If not I will assume it is brand new

    Very exciting!

Assume it's new, no harm in running the 105 slightly rich in any case, great power regardless. Great combination the 700 and 105, immense fun

Just noticed it's the HZr, if it's been standing for a little while it might be worth cleaning the regulator. They get a little gummy and will run very lean on tickover up to main needle. Strip and clean with a little IPA and it'll be good

difficult to say if it has been run in, pull the head off have a look at the top of the piston, if its fresh alu colour then its not been run at all or very little.

best bet as wavey said is to treat it as new and do a run in on it anyway.
