  • Prop adapters

Hi All, sorry if this has been asked before certainly couldn't see it anything scrolling through the forum.

got a question about prop adapters for quadcopters, if it has a prop adapter do you need CCW / CW motors ? or do you need CCW / CW prop adapters ?

Not sure i fully understand the question Kevin but heres my take...

Generally prop adapters will have CW or CCW threads. The reason for this is so that the prop nut tightens against the rotation. It helps with nuts coming loose. It depends on the design of the motor that you are using as to whether or not you use these. As an example the Emax RS 2205 2300kv racing motors (or red tops as they are known) that we use on our fpv race quads have a design built into the top of the bell which aids cooling. Therefore although technically you can use any of the motors in any location on the quad they benefit hugely from having them in the correct rotation. Meaning, because of the cooling fin design built into the bell... if you did not have them in the correct positions then they would not run as efficient due to the cooling design not working as well.

So answering your question directly then No not necessarily... really depends on the motor

    Hope that makes sense

Therefore it do not matter where the motors go... do the prop adapters on the motors all have CW threads? ie when you screw the nut on them do they all screw on the same way (CW)?

Yup then it dont matter which motor/adapter goes where... not all quads have 2 x CCW and 2 x CW motors.

                  Haha

The quarry sounds really good Lee, I'd love to pop over and have a rip with y'all. I've never raced before like, just a bit freestyle.
We've been a bit late to the party over this side, not scoped anything out over this way yet, been threatening to for ages, just not got round to it. The Ncle airport thing is actually no bother, we just ring ATC, they're cool as owt tbh but we've only really flown at a couple of locations over here. We have a farmer who has given us ongoing permission to fly from his land but we're hungry for something a bit more challenging
What you flying at the minute then?
                  Cheers
