    Exclamation DFC link wear

Bit worried about sloppy plastic links after just 25 flights. It moves a fair bit on the swash ball.Same on the 550 so im tempted to go back to the stock heads tbh.
Any one else got the slop?

Yeah noticed the same on my 700 yesterday Nick, although i swapped out the dfc links for normal fbl links as they worked better for my set up. the Head must put a lot of strain on those links! Ive never seen links go that loose in such a short period of time before!

    Is it time yet Nick?

Please note this is my attempt at light humor in reference to one of Nick's previous posts. In all seriousness with solid dampeners link wear shouldn't in theory be any more than most heads as long as there is no give in the feathering shaft.

If u do I would be interested ;-) I wouldn't mind changing the ball links every 30 flights they're cheap enough

Thing is they have been like it a few weeks so they may only take 10 flights in hard 3d and i dont do hard 3d.the 500 efl i just bought flies superb in stock form and its nice to have some dampening as it feels smoother tbh

LG,fairs fair mate, you were harping on about the top links which have been fine lol

The problem with changing them is they are not available.

I busted one in my crash last wk end, and had to buy the 700 link set, as it is the same one as the elevator link on the 700.

Nah, the lower links are under sideways load (with the non rigid dampeners) so I presume they will wear quicker.

You have had solid dampeners in yours since the start? If you have solid dampeners now then hopefully a fresh set of links will last longer.

Just checked my 550 head and the links appear ok but will keep a close eye on them.

On a related note my older 6hv head is as new on the wear front.

Have plenty of the Align links if changing them is required.

Mine have no play on either the 550 or 700. The stock fbl links were sloppy as hell after a hundred or so flights, but took a couple of minutes and a few pounds to change when you feel it's time. Hardly worth sacking it off for if you ask me

Jamie, are you using stock dampners or some harder ones?

Stock in both cases, although they seem to be lasting way better than the original ones in the 700e. After 1 maiden flight, yes 1, they were already noticably sloppy. I've now had around a dozen flights on the 700dfc and not a hit of slop or play

    Hey.

If the links are getting sloppy quickly due to the side loads imposed by the solid links, then are they being stretched rather than worn?

It's not the balls wearing due to a harder material plastic link?
