Default Question on EFL Pro's Tail Control Guide... and ESC

Sorry - I did search first but found nothing.
I'm re-routing the wiring on my 500efl pro so everything is in bits.

Regarding the tail control guide, do I glue this on the tailboom? I can't see it on the manual needing CA.

And regarding the ESC - it's installed under the battery holder with the 2 things (capacitors?) on the front.
I'm a bit worried about those 'capacitors' as they're not really secured and they kinda move when I push on them and I'm worried they might come undone if they kept getting pushed or during a crash (the heli does have an 'anti-taco' upgraded metal battery tray.
Should I ziptie the capacitors to the tray or should i wrap them in heatshrink? Or should I not worry too much?
    Thanks

    Hey buddy,

You shouldn't need to glue that guide to the boom. It should come with a self tapper plastic screw thing that you just tighten down once you're happy that your guide is as straight as it can be and there's no binding. It's important not to get any binding on this point. The guide should be nice and smooth over the metal part. However, the metal part that goes on to the carbon rod does need to be glued in place. I just run a bit of thin CA over where I wanted the metal sleeve to go then just run it up until it stopped. Holds in place nicely.

As for the ESC. Don't worry about it. They all move about a little bit. If you do happen to go in nose first (depending on how high you slam it into the deck) you shouldn't have any problems as the canopy, lipo and battery tray 'should' take up most of the brunt. I had my standard ESC under the battery tray for ages before I went to a CC and it wouldn't fit!

    Hope that helps

hey dude. thanks. i have not noticed a screw tapper on the control guide hence my confusion. i'll check it again tonight and will see..
i finished re-routing the wiring last night (I'm trying to copy the helifreak thread) and got everything hooked up to test. One of the satellites wasn't responding and I thought it was dead but it turned out to be a DSM2 satellite. Luckily I have a DSMx satellite to swap so all is good and hopefully I can maiden the 500 this weekend (if my loctite and screws order from Raj comes today)

Thanks regarding the esc question. I was kinda worried about this one!

I have re run the wiring on mine several times. Have it fairly neat now.
As for the tail have a look a the top of this page on the manual it has a T2.6 x 8 self tapper that clamps onto the boom. (sorry had to add picture couldn't work out how to upload PDF) When in the right place you CA the metal guide in place.

As for the ESC I have it with the battery wires coming out the back. That way I had more length on the BEC wire to get to the 3gx unit inside the frame. Ill try and upload some pics during my last rebuild. 3GX is upside down on bottom tray. RX underneath. That way top tray is not even in. Looks really neat. I did this because the wires from the 3GX to the RX went long enough. End result looks ok.

I have my ESC the same as helimadness with the battery wires coming out of the top so the BEC wire would reach.

Good to hear. I just thought I was a backwards freak. I think most other people have them the other way but didn't work for me.

Cool let us know how you go. The 500 EFL was my first real heli and when it is good I love it. Dont really have anything to compare with but makes me smile. Just the damm 3gx that has caused me grief. If I haven't fixed it this weekend with all the changes I have made. Will give 2.1 a go and if that doesn't work ill look at a beastx or Vbar. Heli is great but.

That's a really nice tidy job! Really loving the Pro airframe at the moment. I am tempted to sell my FBL ESP and buy a Pro.

A few more showing something of the wiring. I may not be very good on the sticks but I try very hard to get a tidy installation.

Very nice. Do you mind if I ask what blade grip arms those are?

They are parts from the pro version. This moves the ball out a bit for better resolution in the fbl controller. The arm on the grip is what is supplied with the flybarred version and the ball is just the longest there is but I can't remember where it came from.

I used the Align F plastic servo arms and I got spot on numbers in vbar with the normal grip arms. I did buy a set of the flybar ones bit never fitted them.
