Default to club or not to club???

i went down to the local flying club today(it just started to rain as i got there )to see what it was like.the thing is though there aren`t any heli flyers there, they`re all plane flyers.they said i was very welcome to join but there would be nobody to give me any help or advice with my heli as they don`t know much about them.also because i fly a heli i`d probably get a lot of the guys watching me talk about pressure
i can do pretty good FFF figure 8`s on my 250 but can anyone give me any help/advice about what to do i can`t do that `upside-downing` stuff yet but i`m not too bad!

    thanks in advance

    Where are you?

I'm sure there's someone on here who is reasonably local?

ive got the same problem here... my local club in barnsley only fly planks & have no support for helis so i opted out of joining.. couldn't see the point in paying out when there would be no one there to support me with any help.

looks like me tripping out & joining Sheffield and District Model Helicopter Club again even tho its a 40 min trip out there & then same back. least the support will be there.

could do with a few of us from off here & from barnsley putting a heli site together.. closer to fast lads the better so not as far to go for parts lol.

i live not far from Leeds, there is a heli club about 5 miles away but with traffic involved would probably take me about a min 20min drive(one way) on a teatime(got kids so i need to look after them while wife(y) goes to work)!!whereas the local club is a max 1min drive away,i`d be able to go there every day mid-week for sure it`s a delicate balance of being able to fly every day versus flying on a weekend with the knowledge/help a heli club can give i just want to fly though really not sure what to do

i`ve been thinking the same thing Ronnie .once i pay for the BMFA insurance the club fee for the heli club should only be about £25 maybe.

it`s just the plane club is literally on my door-step,just down a little hardly used road which is ideal

My club is about 10miles away and takes me about 25minutes to get too, if you are thinking of getting in to this hobby a club is is the way to go
and well worth the traveling :-)

You do know they (well, we, I'm a member there) have moved right? We lost the old field in July and just got a new one this month about half a mile from the old one.

The website is horribly out of date, but the email contact and phone number (I think) is still valid.
