Default DX7 vs DX7s, What are the differences

Im looking in to upgrade my DX6i in the next month or so to the DX7/DX7s but can anyone tell me what the differences are between the 7 and the 7s??
I have noticed that the DX7 new on a well known auction site still costs more than a new DX7s, Does that mean the 7s is a slightly simpler or dumbed down model of the 7??
Im also a little unsure about the 7s as i've held one (not flown with one) and didn't really like the feel of it or the feel of the sticks (resistance and springyness) compared to my DX6i.

The dx7s is basically a dx8 with no backlight, 1 less flight mode and obviously 1 less channel. The sticks can easily be adjusted to suit you

The dx7 is older, made by JR and quite a pain to program. I don't know about eBay but they should be around £80-90.

I'd say go for the dx7s or dx8 - the sticks feel very nice and the telemetry is handy

Well the DX7 is the "old" model, it doesn't have an SDcard slot so you can't export models and stuff, the DX7s is more like a smaller DX8 version, less switches as the DX8 and I think different model memory as well ...

Some people prefer the DX7 even over the DX8 - I prefer the feel and size of the DX7s/8 size

In regards of feel, you can modify this yourself by changing the tightness of the according springs ...

Apart from that I think the DX7s also supports DSMX where as the DX7 only supports DSM2 if I'm not mistaken ."

The Dx7s is a version of the DX8 with less features basically. The DX7 is a much older model. If you can afford it I would recommend the DX8, It has all the features you will ever need and the backlight and SD card etc are useful. Its menu is also easier to navigate than the DX7 and a lot more intuitive to use. It has features such as throttle activated timer meaning no more forgetting to start your time etc.

    Hey

I went from a DX6i to the DX8 and adjusted the tension to suit me. I felt the same when I tried the DX8 in the shop but after a few flights you will notice the difference in smoothness and control. I'm glad I went for the DX8 but would have got the DX7. Its only because the wife gave me the difference from the DX7 to the DX8 that I went with the DX8.

did the same dx6i to dx7s - would have liked the 8 but 7ch serves me - plus had a go on futaba 10c flying helis and 2048 resolution was / is the way to go for feel... has totally changed the way my planes fly too... sooooooooo locked on bit like been able to transfer flying on sim to real life... heli does what it says on the tin!!!!!!
go for the 8 if you can afford it the extra recievers alone pay for themselves for the extra cost!!!!

What do you think of it to use compared to your dx6i?

Sooooooo much better, Pretty easy to set up, Everything feels much soother, All in all a very worth while investment.
The only thing that bugs the s*** out of me is the alarm that goes off if you dont touch the sticks for a while, Nice feature if you forget to turn your transmitter off but bloody annoying when your trying to set your heli up (linkages etc), Its loud enough to have made me jump a couple times when i've been concentrating and it gone off right next to me lol.
