Hi there,
has anyone so far experienced the following?
I use a DX8 on 2.04 firmware with the original LiPo. Today I was at the field, same as yesterday where I had 12 flights with the DX8 and my models. So today after 4 successful flights I prepared my 600ESP for another.
Powered on the DX8 (8.1V), enabled throttle hold, started my BEC, model bound successfully, checked servo movements (just to be sure, do that every flight), connected the main battery (model is now live) and took it to the flight-line. I was taking a breath and was just about to flick out of throttle hold when I heard the usual Spektrum DX8 - beep-beep.
I looked down to the transmitter but the display didnt show anything (dead blank), undid the neck strap ran across to the model and hold the head, just in case. Pulled the canopy off, was about to pull he EC5s apart before I looked at the receiver on the model, which was showing a constant light, so fully bound and connected. Just to being able to describe what happened I stretched for the DX8 cyclic and moved to the right, the servos responded correctly. I then pulled the battery and took the model back to the bench. At the bench I checked the receiver again, still constant red light, before I shut down the other electrics as well.
I showed the DX8 to other members at the club it was still "on", the Spektrum logo shining bright, but no display at all. No one had ever seen this before. I shut down the transmitter and power cycled it, seemed to boot up as previously.
I didnt want to risk a model or worse by having the transmitter cutting out in flight, hence the post if anyone has experienced this and as a possible warning. I will contact Horizon on Monday to get it inspected or replaced, as also my throttle gymbal never had a 0% input, only if you manually press it down else it will stay at 1%.
This stopped me from flying on a near perfect Sunday after a rain period
