hm, I think you cant re-assign the gear switch accordingly, so I guess you are left with aux2 switch or the aux3 dial ?

I've never done retracts on a heli but have done it on planes using the gear switch like you say. However, if I was doing it on a heli, I'd probably use a programmable mix to tie it in to the flight modes. Wheels down in normal mode and throttle hold, wheels up in all flying flight modes, ST1, ST2 etc.

Which part are you having problems with?
If your retracts run off a single servo then one way is to use Aux3 assigned to the gear switch, set end points accordingly and use the speed option in the servo menu to slow it down as needed.
Mate has an airwolf - he programmed his 10c so that when he comes out of idle up the retract gear comes down - saves forgetting to put them down.... or you could put a cheapo turnigy sswitch inline with your batter to reciever... look on hobbyking to see how its doen very easy... and assign your switch to flap function and then set it as slooooooow as you like.... love the dx7s/dx8 programming functions.....

I have a DX8 and I use retracts on my 500 size airwolf.
I use the Gov (Aux 2) switch. The Aux 2 has three positions (0, 1 and 2).
Position 0 is the retracts "down" position and is set to -25%
Position 1 is the retract "up" position and is set to 75%
Position 2 is set to the same as position 1 (so it makes no difference if I accidentally flick to position 2)
The good thing with this is that you can fine tune the % to exactly match the "end" points of your retracts, so your setting will be different from mine but you get the idea.
The next thing to do is go to the servo set up panel in the DX 8
Select "speed"
then select "governor"
then select the speed and input 4.0s which is just about right.
Test the set up and make sure the servo is not binding at the end points (ie when the retract are fully up or down) and make sure the speed is to your needs - you should then be good to go.
Cheers,
Simon

I'm confussed?? Why not plug the retract servo into the Gear port & bobs your uncle then set Gear/Gear in your TX or is this not an option on the DX8?? Then just set your Gyro to Aux2 or whatever it is?? You don't need to have your Gyro in Gear once it's set up. This is how my Airwolf works on my Dx7
