    Default dx8 advice

I am looking to buy a new transmitter to fly a nitro and since my other helis are spektrum I will move from the dx6i and get a dx8
I have read that there were problems with the early dx8 and would like to know how to spot the newer dx8 so I don't end up with problems
    thanks Lee

    Hi,
The issue with the original DX8 was the gimbals, a trip back to HH fixes the issue. My very early DX8 had the gimbal issue and cost me a model just prior to the recall notice but it's been absolutely fine ever since. the point is, and I know you said 'New' but even if you end up buying a used DX8 it doesn't mean it's bad, it means that you just need to give HH a call and see by the serial number if it needs or has had the gimbal issue resolved.

it's a great set and a significant step up from the 6i.

You might also like to consider a JR DSX9 transmitter if you have existing DSM2 receivers.

i bought a newer model but it was sent back for the gimbles and one even though it was not bad at all they replaced it anyway. to be honest i havent had any problems with mine and its now a year old. Any issues though and HH happily collect it, fix it and send it back

I moved from a dx6i to a dx8 and yeah, there were issues at the start and I had the gimbals replaced on mine, but touch wood, its been working fine ever since and I really like it. I was going to change to a futaba 8fg - which is a great radio but once I had the dx8 sorted I preferred the features that it has so I have stuck with it.

There will always be folks that will diss any radio so in the end it has to be down to personal choice, for example, I use dx8/spektrum for all helis and I use 35mhz futaba for all my FPV stuff because the range is better!

    Cheers,
    Simon
