Thread: Buddy dx8 to dx7 plink

Straight buddy link works with dx7 as slave.
Plink doesn't. Many channels are reversed when transferred to dx7,and twin servo ailerons right is lost. Changes to program in the dx7 such as reversing are ignored. If I bind the dx7 to the model it works correctly.

It seems you need 2 identical txts for p link to work. Not what I had been led to believe.

I think the wot4 will be too difficult for my son with all the channels at once. I'll start with my zafira glider I think.

Whay I mewan of course is programable master doesn't work.
P-link is what does work.

Lets put the WOT4 to one side for now I can't figure that out.

I was just messing with my foamy glider which has just 2 channels operating elevons.
Programmable master is working with the DX8 as master and the DX7 as slave.

Now I can set the channels to transfer or not transfer to the buddy on the DX8 menu.
Looking at this menu I'm suprised to see I cannot choose aileron, or elevator. I can choose left aileron or right aileron.
Yes, its complete screw up in the programming. I can transfer the right or left control surface with both channels mixed - ie with the button down I can move one elevon up and down with aileron, and also up and down with elevator too while the slave tx does the same witrh the other aileron.
Tghis might be very interesting to try and fly in a coordinated manner!

I told by spektrum that to buddy up the tx had to be like for like because of the different values.

I figured this out a bit more.
The DX7 "slave" has to have trainer set to norm, not p-link/slave when its connected to the DX8. Then all the DX7 progamming applies when the DX8 trainer button is pressed.
Transferring of the individual functions 1 at a time is then fine too.
Treim transfers to the DX7 too so you have to carefully set it all the same, or set up and trim the model bound to the DX7. This seems good as the docile settings can be developed in the trainees transmitter while the normal expert settings are kept in the master (where they might be needed for a save near the ground!).

Setting the DX7 to plink/slave and the DX8 master to P-link keeps all the programming in the DX8 and the DX7 operates as the DX8 stick units. Trims remain on the DX8. Master Tx has to have the docile setting same as the trainer tx.

So the only issue is the failure to have the primary controls of yaw pitch and roll on the Programmable master menu when certain model specific mioxes are applied - certianly with elevons = perhaps with V tail too. I have reported that by email to horizon uk so maybe they can correct it in a future firmware update.

I got a message from spektrum saying that this issue of transferring one elevon, or v tail surface and not the other is now corrected in the latest airware version.
They say that JR treansmittters have always had this same problem!
