changing regulator can only be a safer option than cheap spektrum part in there now.
BMFA and the like should be promoting an upgrade like this not hiding behind paper work.

Electrically modifying a tx in any way invalidates it's CE approval, so in theory this mod could cause your tx to be refused at a competition or indeed a fly-in. Just thought I'd mention it as whilst it's a superb mod I'd hate to see someone loose their competition place over it.
This is why I used a switch. It can be turned off and not used when flying.

The only change to the Tx from std., is a much more energy efficent voltage Regulator, so your not wasting power as heat on the linear volt reg.

I would love to know how a Mr Curtis Youngblood can fly in comps with a heavily modded Tx (cuddle box)?

I'm not saying I agree with it Rob, it's just one of those things we have to be aware of in this country.

I've got limited knowledge about building setup of heli but how many kits/engines and electrics have a CE mark? We play around and make changes all the time with them.
And people setting said helis are certirfed with paper work and i don't mean A,B and other BMFA ?

As far as I know nobody cares about that bit but to fly at a competition they check two things ...... BMFA B cert and whether your tx is CE certified, if it's modded then it isn't. I'm no expert on this but I believe CE certified equipment is a condition of the insurance, which is why it's checked.

CE certification is an electrical test, so you are fine to open the tx, change stick tensions, bearings or whatever. The moment you introduce new wiring of any sort the tx is no longer the same electrically and the CE cert is invalidated. That is my back of a fag packet understanding of it.

    Done!

My goodness, removing that sticky stuff from the screen was a hassle and it's quite fiddly for someone with big fingers but all in all dead easy. It all goes in nicely.

I soldered my power points to the fuse board instead, right by the fuse but other than that did exactly what Rob did.

    Well done Carl,

Now just step back and think what you have done,

    The world will get hotter

    The sea level will rise

More polor bears will be homeless

The moon will go out of orbit

I hope you can sleep at night knowing what you have done now
