Thread: Newbie Questions- Motor/ESC Frequency/Timing Questions and Setting Recommendations?

Hi All

Apologises if this is a newbie question, as i'm very new to electrikery

I have two motors, and two ESC's, with loads of different settings.
Can someone please advise me as to what settings i should load in the ESC's, as some of the settings don't exactly tie up between ESC and Motor manufacturers and i'm unsure which 'way' to round up/down.
And what effect does having a higher/lower PWM or timing have on the motor/esc?


Combo 1
Align 600MX & YGE 120LV

Align Recommendations-
5-18 Degrees
Freq 16-22khz

ESC Options-
Timing 0/6/12/18/24/30 degrees
PWM 8/9/10/12/14/16khz


Combo 2
Scorpion HK3-4035-560 & YGE 120HV

Scorpion Recommendations-
Timing 5 Degrees
Freq 8khz

ESC Options-
Timing 0/6/12/18/24/30 degrees
PWM 8/9/10/12/14/16khz

The defaults are usually ok. Are you trying to get the best performance for 3D or duration?

More duration than performance, my aerobatics is limited to some hard stall turns/loops/flips and rolls at the moment. Also, how hot is a motor casing supposed to get after a flight?
