    Default Estepona Model Club

Oh well I thought I may as well kick the Spanish forum off seen as I have lived here for 12 years!

I have been flying helicopters for 3 years and for the last 2 1/2 years I have been a member of the CLUB DE AEROMODELISMO Y RADIO CONTROL DE ESTEPONA web site at Club de aeromodelismo y radiocontrol de Estepona

The facilities at this club are excellent, the local council gave 210,000 euros to build the place. Mainly plank flyers due to the excellent 125m tarmac runway and as I fly during the week I usually have the place to myself or sometime with a couple of old guys and a few goats

It is not the best place for a heli, crashing into tarmac is not the best experience to have and as its half way up a mountain there are big drop off's and ravines all around, it once took me 4 hours to find a ditched Trex 450! Having said that the land here is so hard anyway that even if you do find a nice place to fly crashing is not a good thing.

Anyway if you are ever on holiday in the Marbella area and want to have a nosey round you are welcome, or on the off chance that you live here it would be good to hear from you especially if you fly helis. Maybe you fancy a flying holiday, I think the club are doing short term memberships this year, I can always ask if you are interested....

    Default Spanish Heli Clubs

Hello, I live circa Alicante and have been flying in the campo for 4 or 5 years now because I have not found a club anywhere near here.
    Do you know of any?

    Hi Derek

Sorry I don't have a clue what is up your way, I am in Estepona, you can always come and fly at our club but its about 5 hours away! :-)

If you can speak a little Spanish you might find something here:

    www.miliamperios.com :: miliamperios.com

...or these guys might be able to help you, they speak English and are up your way and organised the Masters a couple of years ago in Murcia:

Thanks Kairey & Stanley for your replies, I was beginning to think I was the only one in the area flying helis. I have bookmarked the two sites and will be checking them out shortly.
I have four helis, trex600n, trex450, an old swift16 and an old raptor60. My skills are moderate in that I can hover do 8,s etc but not into 3d as yet, possibly because I don't have a club I can go to to get advice and or mentoring. Perhaps Stanley you can email me and we could join up for a fly-in.

    Hola,
My name is Lee and i'm a heli addict . I live in Tarifa. I have been flying on and off for about a year now. I have a really nice field by my house to fly, but as you probably know Tarifa is renowned for being VERY windy (40Knts all this week) I would love to find some heli addicts to fly with near me. Flying on my own is no fun
I have 5 helis. Chaos600, CX500, HK450GT x2 and my little MSR. Just started doing inverted flying and working on funnels.
Spent the winter in Cape Town and met a really cool bunch of guys there that taught me alot but now i'm on my own again.
Look forward to hearing from mi amigos en Espana.
    Cheers Lee

Hola Lee I live in Javea the most easterly point of Spain not quite local to you but plenty of flying area all around
i·ve been flying for 5 + years now (all alone ) i an a member of a local club which has great facilitys though i am the only" heli pilot " there we have a very freindly international bunch which i frequently amuse when i fly
    I am currently flying 1 x Trex 600 nitro and 1 x T rex 600 ESP
I can usualy get out at least twice a week and could also use a fellow pilot to push me along a bit A K A quite a lot !
hope you are enjoying your helis as much as me though i find the hardest part of this hobby is getting my parcels from the postie past my wife to the garage after that its ( usually ) plain sailing !

LOL Why do we always have to get them past the wife. I'm getting married in Sept. My wife to be is very good with the helis. Even got her flying the MSR. I just finished building my Chaos 600ESP which if you havent seen it is an Align copy but unlike other clones its an up grade from the original Align. Well maybe one day we can go fly if i'm up that way.
    All the best
    Lee

Its called Chaos in the US and in the UK its a Flasher 600 from phoenixtech. I bought the super combo deal which comes with everything RX ready. Just one hover flight two days ago to check everything. Went together like clock work. Have a good weekend Stanley.

Hey Lee surprised you ever get to fly on the "windy coast", it's bad enough up here in Estepona!

There is a club in the Algeciras area that wouldn't be too far from you. We have just had to move Estepona Model Club because the mountain the runway was built on subsided big style!

Not been flying much recently but love to get out with the big gasser helis, so cheap to run and the Trex 700 conversion is now proving to be brilliant!

Enjoy your flying, if there were a few more of us in this area it would be good to meet up....

Hey Kairey, Just got 1 battery in between rain today on my 500. Practicing tictocs. Had to run to put it all away before i got soaked. Gonna try again later. If you are flying anytime and the forecast looks really good maybe i could come up there and do some flying.
    Cheers Lee
