    Default Skookum SK-720 Your Thoughts?

    Hi,

Is there anyone out there using the SK720??? If so, how are you finding it? I've read there is a tail wag problem with the new V2 Update... And that's the only problem I've read about! Are there anymore I don't know about?

It's between this and a BeastX for my next project!

    Cheers,
    Shaun

I have three 720's and i really rate them. I used to have vbars.
I am just testing a new firmware 2.03 which has solved the tail wag a few people including myself have had. My tdr rigid took on a bad wag after the last update but is running fantastic now. Best tail ive ever tried. The sensors used are of a higher spec than other systems. Vbar for instance has a max controllable yaw rate of 520. The 720,s is 900. Cheap sensors are possibly the reason the beast x has some bad press in fast piro moves

also i think if your going to go for your b cert Shaun you cant use a system that can self right your model (active flybarless control ) and i beleve the sk720 has this ability so not sure if it can be used ? well not for taking your test anyway

I asked bmfa about that and they said as long as you show that this isnt engaged thats fine. an example would be to let the examiner test fly it or show on a laptop or hand held controller that the box for self level isnt ticked.

I use self level on a switch as a bale out when my old eyes loose orientation at a distance.

This is me flicking the switch when inverted.

    Nah that's the YeastX.

Seriously though that's like saying Avant = Dog Sh*t of the heli world (well North of Watford anyway)

I too would like to try a SK720 even though I have 3 Vturds already.

I would have thought, as swashbuckler says, that BeastX is the dog turd of the FBL world, in terms of you see them everywhere. And, IMO, that is simply because you can't beat it terms of value for money. I'm not saying it's the best FBL unit however

    I have got a SK720 on a RJX50.

The SK720 has a reputation of having one of the best tail performance in the FBL business.

It's now got a brilliant wizard, that if you follow it to a "T", will give you a 100% flyable model with no nasty surprises.
After that, you adjust it to your personal preferences.

It has some excellent features like:

    1) 2GIG memory card which would give you a huge amount of logs.
    2) Required PC Software installed on the card
    3) Initial programming can be done using the SK720 hooked up via USB to your PC, without any servos or external power requirement.
    4) Powerbox.....on 50Nitro/600 upwards a real advantage as now just signal is required from the SK720, while all the heavy load to servos etc, can be distributed via this box. Both high and low voltage can be used.
    5) Direct visual indication if your vibes are a bit high via a red/green blinking LED on the SK720 itself
    6) lots of other stuff, with more to be released in the future.

I've heard they are going to release a GPS module. It has auto-pilot, altitude hold feathers.

    Hope the price is right.
