  • Knight 3D, gyro, servo and blades q's

So after the boom strike at 100 feet and the subsequent free fall, the Rappy is a bit ill - time to retire it I think - so I have been looking at the k3d. I have a couples of questions though which are on my mind...

I have seen a post on RR about there being some issues with SolidG and the K3D (from CY himself), anyone had any experiances?

Can the k3d swing 620's ? I have a pair of SABs which I would like to use, any one flown the k3d with 620's on and what are you opinions?

Will my YS50 work in the k3D, are there any modifications required? (I know I have to file out the engine mount on the titan and also the frame for the throttle link.)

lastly - anyone got any good deals on a k3d kit?

    Cheers ! :)

*edit* forgot one last q :) Can I use the kasama fan I have on my YS50 at the moment (will it fit?) or is there one in the kit?

    Hi there.

Not sure about the solid G although Graeme Ouseby seems to have got his going OK. I personally run the spartan and very happy with it.

Not sure of the 620s, but I it would be OK.

I'm running the YS50 in my K3D that I bought off StuartN. Works great. I think there is a different crank collar available for not much money.

I'm sure you'll really enjoy the Knight 3D. Now it is reliable it's the best value 50 package out there IMHO.

there is a different rubber insert for the crankcase nose support to run a YS as the crankcase is a little smaller.

some people are having some issues with the solid G its not localised to the knight either. mine has great days and some OK days, nothing major just announances and Im talking to curtis to see if we can get to the bottom of whats going on.

Does the support come with the kit or is it an extra?

Better check with fastlad but at that price its pprobably the 6mm spindle version, not the 8mm.

Ade, will compass supply the replacement bits if it was an older version, i.e before mods? surly they wouldn't sell it in the old state, would they?

I used to use SAB 620 on the knight so you will be fine to fit those.

I have Solid Gs on both my knights and they are spot on. I changed from Futaba 611 gyros and the Solid G is better in terms of general feel and throughout piro stuff.
I use the 600N template, the piro rate is set to 35 on the gyro amp and 100% ATVs on the TX rudder channel, 30% expo on the rudder channel programmed on the TX and the gain is set to 38 on the amp. I use a Futaba 9256 tail servo.

The Bando Belt was a update to all kits out there as compass felt that was the only way to clear the shelf(to be honest I felt and pushed them) so the new belt was exchanged for all new belts held as spare parts in shops and supplied in new kits sitting on there shelf.

The 6mm head and the older starter area work fine just improved.. their many kits that have that and work just fine

Paddy was placed in the top three at clubmans using that version kit.

Some of the last run of kits could well have the older boxes but have 8mm heads and newer starter area.. you will have to check.. some of the shops are selling 6mm ones cheaper but it basically the same price by the time you update.

The kits now cost more money to produce but they are covered..

"Old state" not sure what that was meant! if its got the 8mm head then it will have the new starter area.

If 6mm then older and update if you fly like Ade Gray or Paddy lol.. Most dont and still fine mate.

Price is set by the shop, so have to ask which version. if 8mm then bite there hands off lol

                            Yes small world!

Apparently the fast lads one is 8mm but they sold the last one on teh shelf over the internet on the weekend, some more due in this week.

I gave evo a call and took the plunge! Should be here tomorrow.

Is there a setup guide to link lengths etc? I have had a look at Ade's site, is that info still valid Ade about the pinion etc?
