Thread: anyone tried this esc Scorpion Commander V 50V 130A ESC

I like to know what you guys think about that, whoever tried, but the new one the one without the mount holes to be clear.

Yep have it on my TDR and it is just awesome!! I have another on order to go into my Goblin. Everyone is out of stock till about 4 weeks time as Scorpion are waiting to be supplied FETs for the SBEC. They use the best quality available, and the supplier was on back orders.

There was 1000 units made in the first batch, and only 10 failures have been reported (that was from Georges the owner of Scorpion on HF)

I sold my HeliJive to use this, and very glad I did. I have heard of quite a few people having trouble with HeliJives (NOT PowerJives) and using these instead.

Bert Kamerera uses one as well with a 4525LE in one of his Goblins.

Not had a go with one myself but I have read good things about it on other forums, can't understand why it needs to be that big tho

With and without internal BEC?

so it's a good alternative to the kontronik and it's cheaper?

Awsome ESC, it won't let you down, very easy to program. The soft start is very good and isn't to aggressive. The bailout works perfectly

Adam, are you using the V-Bar gov? If so, how did you set Bailout?

is this what is called the 50v 130a v2 comander with 15amp bec?
if so it rocks Ive lent mine to adam turner as his v1 went pop & hes spanking his g4 e with it with no issues.

I'm thinking of getting one of these for my 700e. Is anyone running one on this heli at the front? I'm wondering if I get the SBEC version and run a small buffer pack and mount the ESC on the front to help CoG, but then I'm not sure due to airflow.

I run one of the older models in my Raptor 90e conversion: the one with no BEC. The soft start isn't very good and I manually get the blades turning before rampin gup the throttle. Scorpion have offered to reprogram the firmware if I send the unit to HK: not sure about that. The ESC sits up front on my heli and does get cooling air through the "mouth" f the canopy. After 6-7 minutes of sport flying she comes back cold. The motor is a Scorpion 5020 450kv and the heli weighs over 6Kg. I found the gov mode poor on my setup and couldn't get good results with it no matter what settings I used. A slight V curve on the throttle channel made all those problems go away, so very happy now.Si

Could you tell the differences between the old and the new one?

The old one doesn't have a BEC
The new one does.

The old one has mounting tabs on the side of the heatsink, the new V5 does not.

The new one is available in both SBEC and OPTO versions.

The latest news is Scorpion were not supplied as expected with the FETs required to restart production. They now expect them by the end of the month, so the ESC's should be available mid May. This is for the SBEC version, the OPTO should be available now.
