Default Realfight 6 on the way

I wanted to do this for a long time, but never got to it, but finally ordered today (R6 heli).

As some of you know I am big simulator fan and have been using Phoenix for more than year pretty much every day (I have hundreds hours logged on it).
But.. always wondered about Realiflight and version 6 was hyped by Matt Botos and Bobby Watts as a much improved heli physics release, so I always wanted to give it a try (Phoenix isn't without its flaws).

    Looking forward to it!

    Well, huge disappointment.

I've ordered Realiflight 6 Heli Mode 2 from a certain website, they've sent me rebadged Realflight 5.5 with old ratcheted controller and R6 Dvd.

They claim on their webpage (not on first page mind you, only when you click details) that "Please Note:The simulators are currently being supplied with G5.5 packaging, however the contents are up-to-date Realflight 6" which is not true. I'd not mind if the box would be from 5.5, but having old controller is unacceptable.

I've sent an email to Knife Edge how they can allow this - it;s unacceptable to try to sell old hardware to the clients, claiming that's it's new and up to date version.
    So, buyers beware.

Can anyone recommend a shop which has a proper R6 Heli in stock?

I gave UK distrubutor a call and was advised that all RF6 Heli versions in the UK are distributed with old style air (not heli) controller. They have no dates when they get new controllers. They said I can give them a call in 2 weeks or so. Looks like the problem is at the source, ie. Realflight. So, no matter what shop you buying from, you will get plane ratcheted controller with your Heli RF6.

I am not going to let it go and will get this controller exchanged no matter what. It's false advertising from RF side, also the controller is good quality and I weould like to use it instead of wearing out my proper tx.

Other than that the sfotware is brilliant when it comes to helicopter physics. I'll write a longer review as soon as possible.

So what's the word on RF6; is it really that much better than Phoenix as people say?

In short yes it is, in physics simulation at least, this is coming from heavy Phoenix user.

I'd not recommend buying RF6 Heli now though, because they will sell you plank type controller. Until this situation is resolved, I'd wait.

I'll write more when I have more time.

Just quick update on this. 3 months later (don't mind it) my plane controller was exchanged to proper heli controller by Ripmax (free of charges). I am very happy how Ripmax handled this.

Realflight is my choice of the sim since I've got it and I don't see myself using anything else anytime soon.

Reportedly. There is a ton of them. I don't fly planes IRL, so I can't tell how good they are. Helis are excellent, way better than any other sim I've tried.

I wonder how much difference the physics are from G5.5 to G6

I've been a RealFlight user for quite a while now, and even thought the older G4.5 was better than Phoenix,

I've got a close eye on the SimulatorX2 that scheduled for next year I think, Since that looks real interesting!

The Planks have always been better in Realflight Raptorheli2 imho , its the Heli side that always let it down so it may well be the time to get the new version , ive only got Realflight 3.5 & 5.5 and then changed to Pheonix . Rob
