Default Oh Darn - Maiden Flight

    Got myself a micro T-28.

Had it nearly two weeks waiting for first flight. Seamed ok today. a little wind but ok.

Oh how I was wrong. Did not expect the huge gust I got about 15 seconds into the first flight. The little T-28 cartwheels backwards into a fence. One wing cracks near the body and creases and the other just creases, also the battery flies of into the undergrowth (Did find).

So 15 seconds of flight and now I have to repair.

Oh well lesson for today well learnt. CHECK FOR GUSTS!!!!

That's the trouble with the UM models, great on a 'wind free' summers evening, but the slightest breeze and you loose them.

I had a Parkzone UM P51D mustang, nice little model, flew quite nicely if I remember,

Parkzone now use the AS3X technology in their UM models, so from now on they should be able to cope with the wind alot better

I had a Parkzone Micro Sukhoi as my first fixed wing.....big mistake it was a feisty wild untameable little booger, but loads of sellotape and epoxy later I did learn to fly it; don't give up on it just fix it up as you go along - it doesn't need to be pretty!!!

Don't forget the bin liner. If you have all the bits that's a bonus. Where's the photo?? or vid. The worse thing is not having anything to take home, usually with gliders and thermals.

Fortunately it was all in one broken piece. Only had to find the battery.

Repairs done now have to wait again

When for this one because everyone was saying it easy to fly and learn on unlike the Sukhoi which is just a little more responsive

Helis are easy to fly. It can take a long time to find that out though. They do go very quickly from being impossible to easy, at least as far as hovering tail in is concerned. Then you find there's something else you can almost do. There's always something else.

I've been flying the Dynam Ez Hawk (added a rudder) only about £100 and flies really well. This is my second, the first took a bit of a beating, was mainly hot glue by the end! and a tupperware pot for the nose after a full throtle into the deck! So i bought a new one and fitted a video camera to it straight away, and after about 6/7 flights it's good as new (apart from a few scuffs after getting too close to a tree!)
It's got prop at back so less easy to damage and glider style wings so self-rights a bit, the first one i had i added bigger flaps, cut wings down and put a 440turbo heli motor on it and it went like a rocket!
Theres a few vids of it in action on youtube- might post 1 on here too incase anyones interested.

Trying to learn helis as well. Mainly on Phoenix and an mSR-X. Find planes to be easier on the sim but in real life don't know yet.

I have flown for real but it was over 20 years ago lol (Bulldog and gliders with instructor)

Sorry, I assumed you were flying a heli. I had a break of about 5 years and then eight years and found it took a while to get back into it. For planes someone to help is useful.
