Default Replacement or substitute USB lead

Is there anywhere that supplies a replacement lead for the Phoenix sim? Mine has just gone wrong after only two weeks and I've sent it back under warranty. However, that means I'm now unable to use the sim! A spare would always be handy to have around.

I see there are some substitute options on sale but they have very mixed reviews, especially after upgrading to the latest version of Phoenix. Any experience of these things out there?

I wouldnt bother, when you buy Phoenix, what you are paying for really is the dongle, if yours has gone back you will have to wait until it is returned.

all the others are dodgy ones, some people may use them, I dont

Is there no possibility of buying a spare genuine lead?

Do you know why yours has gone wrong? is it becasue it keeps getting plugged in and unplugged? if so maybe consider a simstick for the future?

A genuine lead = a full version of Phoenix

If there was any way to buy a lead other than as part of a full retail package then they would just get sold on to those wanting to avoid paying the real price.

Well, I've only had it for 2 weeks so hardly heavy usage! I wondered about a simstick but read widely varying reviews, especially relating to Phoenix V4. Would you recommend one?

I have had a Simstick for over a year now and could not see any other way of using the sim again. Absolutely fantastic bit of kit. Keeps all the wires nice and tidy behind the computer. Never had a problem with it and I just use a really cheap Orange Rx from Hobby King (I think the Simstick guys are still doing a deal with a receiver so you may not need to source a cheap one).

What is the receiver for? The standard lead just plugs into the tx at one end and the usb at the other.

Oops - just realised what you mean - sorry!

The simstick needs a receiver as the transmitter now can be used without a wire going to it. So the transmitter is now transmitting your stick commands like it does with a real heli to the receiver that is plugged into the simstick. The simstick then converts that into the signals that the dongle needs for Phoenix.

No worries!! I just found the sim a pain in the arse with having to plug and unplug and hide the cable so my kid did not try to eat it. So simstick means I just fire up the sim and turn on my transmitter and I am good to go.
