    Default Phoenix Dongle repair

Hi, I have been using Phoenix for some months now and slowly the wire between the TX and the 'black box' has become unreliable (need to wiggle it into working). I'm sure some of you must have suffered this with Phoenix or elsewhere.

I tried a repair job it which worked for a while but now, it really is knackered. My question is, does anyone know if there is any kind of dongle repair service? I'm sure I read somewhere that this is a £20 service but I can't find anywhere that does it.

    Can anyone help?

    Hi,

I believe it's a service done by Pheonix themselves, if you give them a shout they should be able to help you out.

I have exactly the same thing, I hAve to have a loop in my lead held there with a cable tie to keep it working.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on with Phoenix and what they charge.

Take it apart and fix it yourself... Its the red wire that brakes eithe at the jack or by the gromet in the box. Its an easy fix... Take the lid off the box and identify the red wire. it may have a bit of potting compound on it but persivere .... Cut the plug off and replace with a new one. The screen is the body and the red is the tip the white isnt used....

Thanks for all the replies guys. In the end I decided to tidy up my repair job so I opened up the box, and cut and re-attached the frawed red and unsheilded wires (twisted not soldered) and put a full roll of electricians tape around everything

Its been working great for a few weeks now.

I had mine repaired by Phoenix a year or so ago, mine was pretty old & from what I can remember it was glued together so you couldn't take it apart.

Hi Tim, mine can be opened with the four screws on the box but once your in there all the wires were (almost completley) covered in a black resin sealing it all up. However, I had nothing to lose so I prised/ peeled the wires out. It looks a mess in there now (hence all the electrical tape) but it does actually work.
