    Question Black gears stripping!?!

Had 3 strip in flight now, never had any white ones strip except when i was experimenting with pinions.

Mark E stripped one too the other day.

    Anyone else?

    Going back on the whites!

I run all black gears and don't have any problems but there is a series of precautions you need to take like CA the rear TT gear in to the bearings and sand the boom case and also have zero backlash on the pinion/main gear mesh.

What gears are you stripping and what Gov are you using ???

I flew my fusion 50 for the first time today and exactly the same thing happened. I don't fly hard core 3D (yet), just circuits and loops and I did the main gear. T at my club said that the outrage gears need to mesh tightly, mine were set up with the old paper trick. So I have meshed the gear tightly to the pinion and we'll see what happens....

The grass at Slough is covered with 'em!

I think the problem is that back in the old days with the white ones you set them up with a little bit of play in them whereas when we do that with the black ones they seem to fail. We've started meshing them tight with no backlash, they still fail (cause theyre made by Outrage) but they fail less often!

12 Gov gain max is the general rule for the Fusion so that would be worth trying with the rest of the recommended mods, I've done all what's advised on that link and have had no trouble, I am using the Kontronik HeliJive Gov and all black gears.

CNC main gears are in at Fastlads, not one reported stripped gear in the states even in crashes

Alloy Fusion/Vel 50 bits in too

I know I'm resurrecting and old ish thread but I've had the same thing happen to mine tonight!
first flight of the night (10th in total/approx 90 minutes total time) , gave it full collective and cruuuuuuunnnncchh! stripped the main.
Surely they are not fit for purpose? I'm only using a 4025-550, gawd knows what would have happened if I'd used the 4035!
    Luckily an easy auto.
I'd covered every base I could find during the build, I even asked a field rep if there was anything I should know.
I epoxied all the umbrella gears and meshed them to perfection, the main was butt up to the pinion with no gap and after the first 2 flights to bed them in had been lubed with Tamiya ball diff grease. All the motor screws were tight and threadlocked. HS was only about 2000. Such a beautiful, mainly well engineered model spoiled with rubbish gears!
Do I take it the white delrin CNC one is the one to go for?
Is it likely that any of the debris from the disintegrating gear will have caused any problem with the tail drive gear below it? or worse the somewhat vunerable umbrella gears?

I got the bit about the older white injeted gears being replaced with supposedly better black ones but only after having one of those strip did I realise they had been superceded again by a white CNC version!
    AAAAARRRGHHH!

Do outrage do a white CNC tail drive gear too? (not the umbrellas you understand)
If so, is it required to stop the fusion from performing in flight self destruction?

There are new machined delrin gears on the way, not sure when though for sale. What ESC are you using as too high a gain on the governor can cause the issues you're seeing. Luckily I haven't had any strip in flight

This was just in normal mode (no governor), and only 77% throttle max
