Default EP Helis from Hong Kong

    Hi,

Used to own a Raptor 30 and sold it about 5 years ago as found the motors hard work

Rencently noticed a number or ep kits available with tx for under £200 and wondered if they were any good and if you guys would recommend any specific clone or recon i should just stay clear unless its a genuine kit (which i cant afford)

    Any advice is appreciated

    Cheers
    Darren

Firstly welcome to the forum, Darren.

Second, when you say EP kits from Hong Kong - do you mean, by any chance from Hobby King? If not - Stay Clear. Many have trudged along that path and have fallen badly.

Third, what size model are you on the look out for? Considering you had rappy 30, I'm presuming you would like to go along the same lines - more or less. You're best option would be a Trex 500, I suppose. Small yet big enough.

Parts are cheap - easily available.

Then there are the Phoenixtech guys. The stuff is good, pretty much Align - if you look closely but they have certain of their own models like the TT360, smaller than the 500, yet a tad bigger than a 450 sized model swinging 360mm blades. Again, this model own a considerable presence in the air. Cheap to buy, run and maintain. Local too, if that helps.

Now the question of the cash - well under 200, with a tx - no way! Under 300 - probably. You could get a hold of a used model along with a Dx6i for under that price, if you look around. You're investment, if you look into moving with the leccy's will be Lipo packs - which ofcourse the options are plenty - from hard core, well performing, reliable and LOCAL Optipower ones to the more economic (price wise), 'take-a-gamble' Hobby King (Turnigy) ones from HK. Not saying they're bad - just that you don't really know what to expect untill you open the box and charge the lipo or look further into it's details! As time goes by, you could keep treating yourself to maybe one pack a month or so - depending on your financial situation.

Anyway look out on the For Sale - Section and see if there is anything you fancy and contact the guys. Remember there are rules here, so since you're new you won't be able to post in that forum. You could always send out a PM to guys and almost all on here are pretty good to help yer out!

Also keep an eye out on the BMFA Classifieds website. Sometimes, good deals tend to pop up more often than not. Again, there are rules - you need to be a member to contact anybody on there. Well, friends on here, like everywhere else are what you make of them.

Happy hunting mate and as they say - don't jump in and decide on the spot. Ask for suggestions or opinions, if you must.

    Cheers,
    Over and out!
