If you are dependent upon your supplier to deliver complete packs then you are somewhat at their mercy as far as the quality of the construction and matching which is I believe where Optipower are today.

Flightpower and more recently Revolectrix seem to have taken the extra step which may ensure long term quality. I guess time will tell.

I never used them but at the time when all packs were very expensive weren't they a highly rated pack?

I think most swore by them, virtually everyone on here used Revo packs, I still have an old red label 18C 2100 which is years old now & i use it in my Airwolf Trex 450 still & it's got zero puffyness

Holy fookin Jesus on those revised revo prices, that's more like it even with taxes.

Flew my Opti once today it was ok ish then immediately stuck it on a 3c charge took 18 mins to complete then banged it straight back up in the air, power was better then after that straight onto another 3c charge (14mins) then up again and power was impressive enough.

Says 3c on the label don't say it if it won't take it or is it just BS.

I've charged my 2300 nanotechs at 10a and they are still ok,label says 5c.

    Guys,

Interesting thread, couple of points. Firstly prices are where they are as we sell via distribution not direct and we support a 50% crash back guarntee.

Secondly our C Ratings are REAL ones not a marketing number please go to our site and read the paper on C ratings. We can support our ratings and out of interest the most amps pulled so far in testing by the very best UK pilots is under 195amps for just over a second on 5000 12S setup avg is 95 amps so 30C REAL rating is way over the top. We could follow the heard and put 55C on them but that would be dishonest.

I know of 18 lithium manufactures and we are just about to test the last one. We found one really good manufacture and some really poor ones. It took us ages to test them all hence the fact we get really good reviews. We do a high level of QA but still the odd cell creeps past so if anyone has a cell they are not happy with we also support full warranty if there is an issue. We will factory test cells if asked to do so FOC to double check thier condition where a client has any problems. Again thats what you pay for, SUPPORT in the UK.

Yep, TP are really very good indeed and were our target cell to be as good as. We tested against TP and we have achived the goal you will not feel or record any difference between TP and OPTI more or less identical in performance. Test data showed we might even have an edge albeit very small 1 to 2%. So TP are great no question at all but OPTI meet them head on!

ONe thing is for sure theres lots of choice and you cannot please all the people all the time. If I wasn't in the lithium business I think I would use TP myself having done the testing.

The only heli not running Opti for me is my 450. But once the 6s packs come out I'll swap the motor and convert that over to opti as well.

Where are we at with regards to making use of the 3c charge rates?

I understand higher c charging can be detrimental to cycle life but have you any input on this point?

When at home I would always charge at 1c maybe below and even at the field would tend to parallel packs up and do a 1c charge across them but if needs must and I want to push to 2 maybe 3c what can I expect to lose in lifetime.

    Thanks for your thread input,appreciated.

Andy, that's a very honest (and appreciated) reply concerning a competitor, not often you see that.

Going back to the original flavour of this thread, I think there are many club flyers (myself included) in the UK contemplating or dreaming of a switch to Optipower, I'm sure some kind of short term promotion would create a much bigger ground swell for you and allow more of us to 'see the light'.
