Default New Optipower Parallel Charging Board

Unless i have missed a trick, i am suprised this has not been posted already...

    http://www.optifuel.co.uk/Home.aspx?...itle=OPTIPOWER

Looks like we are being treated to an all singing and dancing parallel charging board in the New Year.

Certainly tempting if its been designed to work with the PL8/Cellpro10s etc.

Can anyone enlighten us if there will be an EC5 discharge connection version as well? Would be suprised if one was not going to be avaialble considering it EC5 seems to the be connection of choice these days.

I can see it has a deans male connector so it will be very easy to make deans female to EC5 device connector link cables.

When I see these kind of gizmos I wonder if the feed cable can for example really carry 30 amps if you were charging 6 x 5000mAh 6S packs. The idea that FMA had of the stacking banana plugs is so the cable only has to carry current for one battery.

Let's hope it's reasonably priced, cost me over £100 to buy 6 boards and 6 40 amp leads

I would be very suprised if Andy would even consider something like this unless it was a tried and tested product and met with all saftey requirements... But i do see where you are coming from.

Perhaps it has restrictions on its capacity?

They look very similar to the EP Buddy ParaBoard available ParaBoard : EP Buddy, We Power Your RC Hobbies!, you can get them with EC3, EC5, XT60 etc. to suit all tastes.

You can get similar ones at Hobbyking also.

Those dont have the fuse though. I would also imagine, that Cellpro ones have the Cellpro balance plugs to plug straight into the charger.

Taking a better look at the picture it shows that each fuse is 40 amps. I would recommend unless you are charging a single pack at 8C to replace them with ones closer to your current draw per pack. It would also appear that there is poly fuses on the board but it doesn't look like they are on both sides so I don't know how that is meant to work.
