  • 750mx Quite Hot after 1 battery

I flew my DFC HV last night for 2 packs.
I noticed that after 1 pack, my esc was warm (just warm.. not too bad) but my motor was quite hot - definitely can't leave my fingers on it without saying OUCH!

Is this because my heli is new? It's only a month old
Also - can the motor pinion to main gear mesh be adjusted? I noticed white powder on the black main gears and a friend said it feels a tad tight when you rotate the head by hand... (it's actually much better now since my flights last night) but I just want to make sure...

Do I need to adjust the mesh or do I just need to bed the gears in? (break in period?)

I have read of motor shafts snapping in flight (on HF forum) so don't want this to happen to me

    i2 2050

750mx Quite Hot after 1 battery

Although might not be relevant, when I first set up my Castle Esc I set it up from using the specs of the motor and it flew hot, then I found Castle had specific settings for the 700mx on there web site changed to those and it runs a lot cooler.

      ^^Hmm... I'll have a check again. I had mine set to 8khz (from 12khz)

        Hey buddy.

The 750MX does run a little warm even on the Castle recommended settings. You can lower the PWM rate, which you did already to 8 from 12 which can help. Outrunner mode has been used by some to.

Where did you set your timing to? Another parameter which can effect other things as well as motor temp.

The white powder is just the pinion and maun gear meshing into one another and is nothing to worry about. I've just fitted the steel pinion to mine and seeing the same thing again.
The mesh isn't adjustable, but should not need altering.

Hey Ian - many thanks for that! I can't remember my timing - I'll find out and will post the whole setup.
Oh - thank you for the bluetooth! It's excellent!
Am I ok to just leave it on the heli blinking whilst flying even when I don't need to connect to it?

              Morning buddy.

You're welcome, I've been monitoring my own 750MX lately to now it's getting warmer.

Glad you like the BT module, thanks for your custom.
Yes, you can leave it permanently connected and as you've seen it just flashes away to itself. I leave mine on my models, so its there to make quick settings changes if need be.

On run mine on out runner mode and its cooler. But did run hotter on castle spec settings. Mesh is not adjustable unless using kde mounts.

Check your mesh because it slanted, so if piƱon to high or to low will change mesh slightly.

                  Motor Timing: Low (0)
                  Direction: Forward

try using, then down load logs and will check temp etc, then try out runner mode as I do on all my 700 750mx motors
