  • Looks like eBay/PayPal have made another improvement for the Buyers

Just made a purchase on ebay, it now seems that paypal hold the payment in such a way that the seller can send the item (recorded) and when the buyer receives it, marks it as received, then paypal release the money to the seller.

I'd imagine there's an automatic side of it too, where if the tracking information is added to the system it automatically releases the funds after "X" amount of days.

Probably great for buyers but another blow to sellers perhaps?

Not too good for the Heli/Model Shops though. Cash flow will be bad for them having to wait 2 weeks for the items to be paid for. The items bought might be required again before the 2 weeks are up due to a crash.
I personally don't like the delay in taking the money out of my account. It might tempt me to overspend my budget.
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?

I don't think theres a delay in taking the money from you.. thats the same as before... what seems to have changed is paypal "hold on" to the funds until you tell them you've received the item and that you are happy with it. If not then they still have your money and have the sellers by the balls.

I think its something they are just rolling out but not 100% certain.. Its a registered business seller i've bought from so maybe they're getting it first?

As said though, Cash flow is critical to a business so how it will function for them I don't know.

Ebay has become too protective of the buyers imo, not thinking enough about sellers.

Ah hang on, there's some info here: PayPal

It seems they are using DSR's and other information to target sellers/items/products that are prone to issues/refunds/claims etc.. The idea is to keep the funds pending for up to 21 days to ensure theres funds in the accounts to refund any unhappy customers.

So its a way of stamping out "problem areas" in other words which is why some sellers or some items won't be included in this.

I have recently spent around £350 from various Heli shops and ebay. The MONEY is STILL in my account and I have emails from Paypal saying WHEN they will be taking the money from my account to pay the dealers.

That would make more sense. Most sellers wouldn't be able to continue in business otherwise. I would struggle as I sell on eBay and via my own website and need the cash to buy more stock. Lack of cashflow is the killer of business.

oh right! thats bad news for sellers! and a bit of a pain for buyers too since money is still in your account which has been spent.

No, but I have spent my months budget on the 450X for our Simon. Even though it is still showing in my budget account.

                        lol thats true...

I think overall its a good idea, since it only targets "trouble spots".

Looking at my UPS tracking the parcel i've bought is in the area already... just waiting for someone to deliver it now =P

I have had my Paypal account verified for over 10 years. This delayed payment has only just started in the last couple of weeks.
