    Buying from HobbkyKing UK Warehouse????

    Buying from HobbkyKing UK Warehouse????, I'm thinking of spending on various bits from the UK Hobbyking but was told you will also get a TAX bill to pay first as there is no mention of any VAT?.

    Anybody ordered from UK branch without any extra bills???

    I bought their "magic mirror" equivalent tacho from the UK warehouse, and I did not pay anything extra (item + postage)

        If you check out the prices in the UK warehouse they are a little more expensive that the HK equivalent. To cover our fantastic VAT. I've bought loads from there and there's never an uplift.

            No surprise tax bill. But your invoice is in US dollars and I think you pay in US dollars so there might be a foreign exchange charge on your card or you might find that because of fluctuations and differences in exchange rates between what HK use and your payment provider you may pay a slightly different amount. However, I have found that not to be a problem and the differences are small.

              Good I was told by my LHS that you'll get a bill for the VAT with the order that's all I was worried about... it just looks like a scare story I'm all for supporting my LHS but sometimes the HK prices are too good to refuse, and when you get them nextday from the UK

                What a surprise.... I can understand them trying to stave off the online competition, but that shouldnt be through lying....

                    If you order from the international warehouse in Hong Kong you stand a small chance of being nobbled for tax and import duty but never from the UK warehouse, just double check your ordering from the UK warehouse as its a bit confusing.

                      You can also order from the German warehouse and there's no extra charges. Postage is more thou. The exchange rate can be a pain as the HK rates are different to say PayPal.

                        exactly that happened to me, i thought it was the uk store and ended up with a £19 bill from our rip off tax system, £11 vat and £8 fking admin charge, and to top it off the lazy b@stards get royal mail to collect it for them!

                          you can buy from any of the EU HK stores and the vat is in the price, if you buy out of the EU you may get a bill, but it ony tends to be on the heavy big bits

                            Just remember that you are always buying from a Chinese company based in Hong Kong, this is why there is no mention of VAT and you are paying in USD.

                            The goods may be delivered from the UK warehouse, but you are not actually buying from there so you don't get the benefit of UK consumer protection laws.

                              Had no trouble buying from the UK warehouse. Also if i'm not in then parcelforce leave it 1/2 mile down the road in the very local post office and not the one in the middle of the town centre and so far i've always been able to pick it up after work same day so no need for redelivery, etc.
