  • Fusion Hawk 120A Opto ??

Just wonder who uses this ESC. I plan on using it with the AR7200BX and Scorpion 4035 560kv motor.

I understand that this ESC doesn't have a built in BEC, and I don't want to use an external BEC, I plan on using a separate liFe pack.

Will this ESC be any good with the BX, as I've heard it prefers to combo'd with the VBar ??

    Thanks

If you get the programming card , can use the fusion gov. No bec as it opto. Had one on early 700e when they came out. Worked ok

I think the reason people say that it works best with Vbar is because they use it with the VBar governor where as with the BeastX it has no internal governor. A budget alternative that I run in my 700e and works great is the YEP120HV. Hobbyking YEP 120A HV (4~14S) Brushless Speed Controller (OPTO) (UK Warehouse) They also have a lower rated version if your running on a 600 though it's more expensive so......

        Fusion Hawk 120A Opto ??

I had a hawk 120 ESC on a goblin 630. Very good for the money.

Interesting setting it up though especially when you get asked to chose either "boat mode" or "car mode"

For the record it worked great in "car mode"

Hi Sam. I use a Fusion Hawk 120HV on my Goblin 700 but with a VBar. I am also going to be using one on a Goblin 630, also with a VBar. I use an Hyperion Life on my 700 and shall also be using a Life on my 630. In fact I use Life on ALL my Helis except the TDR with a Kontronic and my 550DFC with the Talon.
BTW. I use the Hawk Gov and not the VBar. WHY? Just not got around to trying the VBar Gov. Quite happy with the way the Hawk performs, so why change?

Totally agree, great little ESC. I sold my Goblin 630 RTF so the Hawk 120 went along with it.

I went out and got a Kontronik 120HV for one of the MD7's because they are supposed to be bullet proof, the thing popped within 10 flights!!!! So you really never can tell.

The governor on the Hawk 120 is great, wouldn't bother hooking up the Vbar gov personally. In fact while I'm waiting for the Kontronik to come back from Germany I might just try another Hawk 120.

Thanks guys, so let me get this right, the hawk has an internal gov build in ??

I will be using a life pack, therefore I won't be using a BEC, and the Hawk doesn't have a built in BEC, is that okay ?

Just run a flat line throttle curve for your idle ups and your golden.

And what would happen if I didn't use a flat curve, just out of interest ?

Are there any flaws when using it with the AR7200bx ?

The Hawk does not have an internal BEC, hence the reason to use a Life for Rx power. The Hawk Gov is pretty good. I run my Goblin 700 with straight curves 65%, 75%, 80%. I donb't know about not using a straight curve. I believe some on freaks use the AR7200BX with the Hawk.

So for those that have a 7HV, which is better, the HobbyWing Platinum 120A HV Opto or the Fusion Hawk 120 ?

Sam. Both are really good and I'd prefer either against a castle product any day. From reports I'd say the fusions gov is better than the HW.

I've got a LCD program box for the HW should you go that way.

The only thing I find with the hw is the start up kick and the internal govs not great. Stay with the hawk or get a yep 120

I agree, I had the same problem when I had one fitted to my old 600E CF running it on 6s. You had to be very careful when feeding in the throttle. After that it performed well, but the Hawk is MUCH better.
