    Guy's

I'm new to this hobby and I'm looking to buy my first real TX. Undertaking the usual internet trawl, and I've found the Aurora which takes my fancy.

Now I have an unfortunate history of buying cheap then promplty upgrading ( At one point I had enough Scuba equipment to start my own shop!). however I don't want to buy a top of the range £1000 TX only to find I have no aptitude at all for flying.

So does the team think the Aurora 9 is a good choice? and should I hold on and wait for the 9X to arrive?

    Cheers

    Martin

    Re: Hitec Aurora 9 ( X)

Welcome to the hobby & the forum

The Aurora is a great Tx (I owned one), only reason I sold up was the fact that I couldn't use it for the bind & fly blade series and was using 2 transmitters so changed to a JR DSX11, great Tx but I soon found myself coveting a Futaba T14SG & not a bad pricepoint

Feels great in the hands & gimbals are great.

I would say to try them all out & get one that feels great & gives you what you need.

The 9x will only be upgraded slightly & not that much you'd notice from what I've read.

Also try the DX8 as that is a good Tx but has had issues in the past

As Dan says try them how they feels like in your hands. It is a question like intel vs amd nitro vs electric or vbar vs beastx. I started with Futaba then soon realised tier reveivers were expensive. I bought then a Spektrum but you can heas loads of good and bad about this brand. I have an aurora 9 for the helis and i cant fail it.

A9 is a superb tx only two downside first that you can use it with the B n F helis, if u use them, and second the rx are all full size one, would be nice to have satellite or sigle line, however Hitec said they are working in a new type of rx
        Mikado Logo 600 3D
        Evergreen Raptor 50 now R.I.P.
        Align T-rex 450 V2 gt5 fbl soon controlled by Ardupilot Mega 2.5
        Trex 600 nitro

        Hitec Aurora 9

Had mine for three years now, maybe a little longer. Can't of any reason why I would consider changing it. It does everything very easily .

ive got 1 and love it even had a back up 1 but had to sell off due to being skint ;( it does everything you want and some feels great looks great easy as programing with an in depth easy to use manual (this I think is most important if u new and don't understand what anything means)u can use minima rx for micro stuff (no telemetry) and u can mod a dm8 spectrum modual for the futaba's so u can use it for spectrum/bind n fly gear

but that aside have a feel see what You like and yes its a top radio probly the best in most if not all areas old a9 is pukka too I have old 1

a9x fastest radio at mo old a9 is still very fast u wont notice latency until ya pro and tried others (But u naturally adjust anyways)

            all the best terry

p.s if your ever round the top of the m25 your more than welcome to pop in and have a butchers at my A9

Love my A9 , does all I need . Only thing I would recommend is getting a neck strap balancer for it so it hangs better.

I may just been unlucky but my battery just drained too quick so bought one of these:
Turnigy 2200mAh 2S 25C Lipo Pack (UK Warehouse)

Since the battery last several field days. Well worth that fiver!

set back light to turn off after 10 seconds lasts all day. Although I just fitted a 2000mah sanyo enoloop thingy and damn it lasts all week

Well since the new battery fitted it last about 4 times longer. The only draw back is since it is a lipo i have to take it out to charge but it worth for me.

Done the same , and leave the back light off.

Don't think I will bother with the new a9 , not much of an improvement from what I can make out . But the deals you can get from airtek at the mo I might get another one for a spare

Not exactly on your doorstep but TJD Models over near Dartford have them in stock with a 7 channel receiver for £199. AURORA 9 2.4GHz AFHSS COMBO 7CH RX NIMH (M2) [2210430] - £199.99 : TJD Models
If the M25 is clear it's probably a 45 min trip from Reigate, if bad it's probably several days

You might see me in there tomorrow morning looking at one.

That sounds like a good deal. Though since you don't want to spend money and regret it, tell them to keep the 7ch receiver and exchange for a 9 with twin boda aerials. It's easier to run extra gain channels for gyro and governor gain with a nine than a seven. And get an hp22 interface module too so you can update all the firmware. Without it you might find you can't bind the tx to rx.
