    Micro sd card problem

    I wonder if the techies can advise me on a little prob I have with a micro sd card that I use to store some fairly important documents ?
    I went to use it today and I cannot read it, I keep getting the message ' the card in drive j is not formatted do you wish to format' WTF I use it every week and keep it in a USB reader in my wallet

    I dare not format as it will prolly erase all the stuff on it already. I've tried 2 diff pcs and 3 diff card readers


    Any suggestions ? Have I lost all my data?

    you may have lost all your data, or some of it, but most of it probably still there.

    Sandisk do a recovery software that works pretty well, and there are lots of third party products (many of them free) that so the same job.

      It wasnt in a Sony mobile which has just last week done an update. Im having the exact same issue.

        I get that on one of my wifes SD cards from her camera. Everything is still accessable. Just ignore it. DO NOT FORMAT. Do you access it on a Laptop?
        Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
        Now too many Helis to mention?

            No it's a sandisk 2gb micro SD and I do my invoices every week on the work PC . It was fine last week but this week won't play ball :(

            When I get some time later I will try that recovery software ;)

              Same as john, just ignore the format, you will be able to get the files off temporarily. Then format it. The issue is Windows updates, I get it regularly with my camera sd card. Just windows explorer not recognising the file system properly. And when you format it dont do quick format, do a thorough one.

                Can't believe this thread at this time.... I'm right now working on recovering a load of data from a work colleague's XD-Picture card that found itself drowned when he dropped the camera in some water!

                I'm getting some of it back, but not all of it, and it's a slow process.

                The card itself has reformatted just fine and looks good to use again now that it's dry. I'm just trying to make heads and tails of the data that was left on it before I reformatted it. Some pictures have been claimed fully, some partially, and many not at all. But the reclamation process is on-going.

                  If you struggle Don I've got the mother of all recovery software File Scavenger, it'll get back whatever hasn't been written over.

                    Micro sd card problem

                    Well I tried and failed, I noticed that the card was getting extremely hot when plugged into the laptop and I made the mistake of trying to straighten it as there was a slight bend in it :( it's now in two pieces !!

                    Thanks for the replies fellas but sausage fingers strikes again and just like my flying, I lack finesse lol
