New version 600N Main Gear Case Problem.

    New version 600N Main Gear Case Problem.

    I fitted a new YS60 along with the new version gear case ( the one with the additional bearing fitted) into my 600N a few days ago and test flew it yesterday.

    Great! The oneway hub assembly didn't last very long.

    Put 6 or 7 tanks of fuel through the engine and during the last flight had the oneway bearing and bearing shaft lock solid.

    Can't separate or rotate the bearing shaft at all.

    Any one else had problems with these newer parts?
    It has the extra top bearing fitted that is supposed to help stop it locking up.

    I know the YS60 is powerful but surely it shouldn't take these parts out this early on.

    Looks like I've got to order another set and try again.

    Exact same problem here.... Never used to happen on my 600e but now with the exact same parts (new style main gear, auto gear, hub & bearing) taken out of the 600e and transplanted into the nitro my main and auto gears lock up. Tried just nipping up the Jesus bolt and greasing the bearing but nothing works, however I am able to un-seize the bearing and free everything off.

      This doesn't sound too good at all then.
      Is this the extra bearing causing this?

      I have ordered some new parts now.Hope this doesn't fail as well.

          Hmmmm hope new parts sort it out then.
          I don't think you can get the other version now.

              Parts are fitted but I've been unable to try it today due to having to work.
              It will be next weekend before I can get down the flying field.

              I managed to get the inner shaft out of the bearing in the end - with a hammer.

              I'm pretty sure that it is this being slightly undersized that's doing it.

              Mine measures 11.98mm using a digital caliper.

                  Test flown yesterday with half a dozen tanks though.
                  Didn't fail but didn't sound 100% right either.

                  What I've done now is order a BocaBearings upgraded bearing from the US that is supposed to work.

                    had the same problem have to use the old style gear box without the extra bearing in the top
                    its full of meaty goodness

                      I packed teflon grease into mine and after 4 tanks it's still perfectly fine.

                        Two more tanks though the 600N and the second One way has locked up solid.Impossible to separate the parts.
                        So looks like time to use the third full case set that I have bought and get the Align OWB swapped out of it.

                        Luckily the Boca bearing came yesterday from the US and I have now got it fitted along with the top bearing.
                        Had to press it in as it is a very snug fit in the case.

                        Must say that it is a slightly looser fit and when all together very smooth.

                        I'll see if I can get more than a few flights out of it.
