  • 250 trex with microbeast death wobble

Has anyone got experience with the microbeast in 250s? Mine seems to enjoy going into an uncontrollable wobble that leads to expensive and annoying repairs. Redid microbeast settings, got the sat setting right and got some different color lights, tried my damnedest to get 6 degree blues. I tried align gyro tape, then 2 align pads, then used 2 maplins pads which improved it, it flew for 2 to 3 mins feeling like a flybar then went into death wobble mode again. I tried balancing tail blades to get rid of vibes, replaced bearings, mainshaft, feathering etc. Is it best to get everything new and start again, or stamp on it, put the bits in the case and put the case under the stairs.

I had the beastx with sat on my 250se & first attempts went wrong in simpler way as yours because I didn't default it before going back into the beastx setup.
I would suggest default beastx then as you go through the setup be sure to let the unit know you are using ie, spectrum sat then when you get to the 6* degree setup your be fine if you keep within 7*
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

      I've got a beastx 250se and a brain 250pro.

With the beastx, I've had no issues after 1362 flights in the back garden and 30 rebuilds (or crashes, whichever way you want to look at it lol).

Thanks for the reply Jim, I did default it after much head scratching, did a completely new setup, that threw up a few different lights as I hadn't set the sat right, it was quite tricky plugging in and holding down button etc, but managed it, this must have changed some other settings too as I got different colours to first setup. I made sure I went through the manual step by step so I hadn't missed anything. I guess I'll have to go through again, get some more new bits to rule out vibes and stick another pad on.

Thanks for that Obiwan, I'm not sure exactly how it helps, but I'm so glad you've managed so many smooth flights. I'm also impressed that you kept count of 1362 of those flights in the back garden and only had 30 crashes, you're obviously not trying hard enough haha

Got to admit i didn't get on to well with the beastx in my 250 so went 3gx.

Finally sorted death wobble ( 99% anyway) can't believe how simple it was and how simple I must be. Just turned down dial 1. What a numpty!! thought I might have fixed it before when I found the one way bearing was round the wrong way!!!! I really can't believe how dumb I am, when I went through everything step by step, read through manual, reread it, rebuilt heli etc etc So went back over field and started throwing it around and woooo this thing is sooooooper quick, nearly lost it a few times, then started nose diving, carve turns great fun, then for some reason I thought up was down and down was up and this happened!2013-05-17 20.30.10.jpgStill, once its back together at least I can get on with flying it.

                  This is very interesting,
I was trying out my 250Se converted to FBL with beastx & had the same problem,
I was on holiday & after playing round for a couple of days I gave up with it. I have it mounted with one layer of that 3M 4011 tape (everyone always on about this on the forums) & thought it may be the problem.
So how much did you turn it down by?
I noticed in the manual it said to turn it down a bit for small helis.

Hi Toolman, I turned it a quarter turn back to 9 oclock. I drove myself nutz trying to iron out vibes etc my Micro is on 2 pads of Maplins double sided but still wobbled. Seems so obvious now that cyclic response was way too sensitive so it was overreacting and sending itself into death wobble. I tried turning it down a bit like you as it says but when I read it again tonight I thought why not crank it right down, whats the worst that can happen? It did have a little wobble after a piro but luckily was high enough to settle itself though I think I may have turned it up a bit after a couple batteries just to see what would happen.

I haven't tried turning it down as much as that.
Will definitely give that a try.
My beastx was fine in a 450, so I'm pretty sure its mot faulty.
But the strange thing is it doesn't start shaking right away, on the first flight it was at least 30sec or more into the flight flying fine.

Yeah I had same sort of thing, sometimes it would go mental after take off, sometimes you think you fixed it and it goes a minute then goes stupid. A little nudge on the floor would normally send it twitching too. I suppose it depends how far you've turned the dial and your setup. I was amazed at the difference, I tried it first with dial at 12 after fixing one way bearing, took it over field and it went stupid just after take off, had a couple of goes but it wasn't having it and luckily got away with no damage. Took it home all dejected with head in hands. Thumbed through manual again thinking it may be parameter settings, looked at section on dials and it clicked. Turned dial down to 9 o'clock and tried it in the garden, all seemed ok, was a bit scary as d/r was default and she was really twitchy and wanted to fly into the fence! BUT no wobbles. Took her out to the field and had a whale of a time, till it had a little meeting with the grass! Good luck with yours, and stay on your toes, they are fookin quick when they get going haha I'll need to tweek the other dials when shes back together as the tail was a bit bouncy and drifted about a bit.

                          Hi Parksy,
I modded my Align 250SE with a BeastX & just recently with a DFC head, it flies very nice all orientations, take off and landings are very nice too, i do some aero's inc inverted but cannot do full on 3D (not yet!!!).
I found to get the 6* somewhere near the blue light i had to use the 2nd hole back on my DS410 servo horn holes, i also used short link balls on the swash.3M 4011 tape for the beast unit.
My #1 pot is set near to 08.00.
You might look at this video set from freddycanfly, its a huge link but it works, or just do a search for the title. hope this helps..
ps it covers the BeastX and 3GX, i have used both video sets as i have a 3GX 250 too.

With the 3M 4011 tape, was that just one layer?

Yes only one layer, the Beast unit is down hard on but under, the gyro mount.
I also have experience the shakes after initailly flying around quite happy after the initial set up, i just tweaked the #1 pot a touch lower and has been fine since... if you go too low the heli will feel mushy.....you must ensure you have no vibration issues this will definitely upset the Beast unit.
