Have any of you lot ever swapped from right handed to left handed playing on a guitar?? How long did it take you get the hang of it again??

I only have 40% movement in my left wrist, legacy from my racing days and its killing me to play right handed. And the idea of swapping round seems a possibility cos my wrist will be fine for strumming and picking.

Any ideas will be helpful, cos its one of my old things that I wanna try and take up again inbetween heli flying and dj-ing

I haven't swapped. But I do know there are a few of us righties playing lefty and a few lefties playing righty lol so it is possible. I think you will really need to start all over again though.

Well, 1 advantage is that you know how to read music or Tab, and you know where the notes are and the shape of the chords, so theory will be fine. It will just be a case of physically adjusting and overcoming any mental blocks from swapping hands.

I haven't but my friend has.
Unfortunately motors skills will have to be built from zero. Music skills like theory and fretboard knowledge are much easier to translate.

OOH thats a tough one,can be done though, and I would bet that once you start to get your head around it progress will be fast.
You`ll sound like you used to when you started learning at first, but you`ll progress faster than you did then,so I would say get stuck in.
Good luck, hope you find it easy!.

Tabs are good but they don't teach ya everything, learning a few simple techniques like the CAGED system really helps and pentatonic scales that are easy to learn :)
